Hi! I'm heading up to NYC for a long weekend in a couple of weeks. I know it's going to be hot, so I'm packing accordingly. Shorts, dresses, sneakers... anything I'm forgetting?
I was hoping the bees would have some recommendations for good second hand shopping! I've spent a good amount of time in the city in my teens and 20's, but haven't been for about 7 years. I'll be staying in the west village. Oh, also looking for good vegetarian food recommendations.

Number 7 Sub (http://no7sub.com/) has really good sandwiches and a lot of them are vegetarian. There's one in the Ace Hotel, it's in a fun/up and coming neighborhood in between Bryant and Madison Sq Parks.

Terri has locations in FiDi and Flatiron. Good sandwiches/wraps and juices
Cinnamon snail just opened in food hall @70 Pine St in FiDi - their sandwiches and donuts are amazing.
For nicer dinners:
Blossom had a location in the west village but I think it closed. Their original location in Chelsea is still open.

Candle 79 on the UES is my favorite vegetarian restaurant in the city if you want a super nice vegan dinner and don't mind going uptown.

But I will add that there are lots of great restaurants that have plenty of vegetarian options that aren't vegetarian restaurants. Same friends mentioned above go anywhere and always find something

@sillymilly: I'm not even a veg but I like alternative proteins more than chicken so I LOVE tempeh and seitan. I'll def check it out.

Was also going to suggest abcv for a fancier meal and by Chloe for casual! Also not totally veggie but the restaurants in the cookshop/hundred acres group (there's also a Mexican restaurant and another I haven't been to) are really good!

And for me, an oldie but a goodie is Stanton Social. I still love taking visitors there because it's unique outside of NYC and if I recall correctly they have plenty of veggie/seafood options.

Screaming Mimi's in Chelsea is good for vintage. Also Beacon's Closet, Pippin (for jewelry), Rue St Denis. What Goes Around Comes Around in SoHo (pricey but fun to browse).

Also- I'm taking a medium sized backpack for being out on the town all day, but do I need a smaller back for going out at night? I was thinking of getting an Everlane fanny pack.

@LulaBee: Will you be with or without kids at night? If without then I would think just a simple cross body bag or small clutch should be fine.

I have a wallet on a strap that I carry cross body. It's really versatile. I can tuck my phone in the front pocket, it works as a wallet and clutch too.
