Trying to figure out what to say without giving anything away. It should have been more than one hour!
And Haddie...not my favorite look for her.

Did the last 10 minutes leave anyone else with more questions than answers?
grapefruit / 4441 posts
@MsMini: Not really... I loved the last 10 minutes! I did read an interview with the director right after, so maybe that did answer some remaining questions? I also rewatched the last part twice, which helped (e.g., was able to notice the genders of kids, rings, etc.). I thought the whole final episode was perfect!

@78h2o: I think I'm going to rewatch the last 10 minutes again today. It was intense and so much to take in that I'm sure I missed some of it!!
I hate to give anything away, but it looked like a certain couple had 2 babies then?? I mean one was little, little and the other was older? Do you know who I'm talking about??

while i enjoyed (and appreciated!) the last 10 min i feel lost. i would love to chat about them .......

SPOILERS!
@MrsBrewer: Yes... in the interview I read, the director said that he envisioned them having 4 children, like the family Julia grew up in. He said that he knew of a lot of couples that struggled with infertility/secondary infertility, adopted, and then found out in the middle of the process (or shortly thereafter), that they were unexpectedly pregnant. He said that is what he imagined happening with Joel and Julia... they thought they couldn't have any more of their own, but after adopting Victor's sister, they were surprised to find out they were expecting. I watched the end again and saw that their second bio child was a boy (so actually, her family is exactly like the one she grew up in, with two boys and two girls). ETA: I also love that both Sydney and Victor have biological siblings.
Also, I had to watch the end again to see that Amber and her SO had rings on, so looks like she got married. Again, in the interview I read, it said she supposedly met the guy (a single dad) with his daughter at the playground. Apparently they shot that scene but had to delete it. It might appear in the DVD box set, apparently. So I guess Amber is married, with a stepdaughter, and Ryan is doing well and involved in his son's life.

@78h2o: That explains soooo much!! I love that ending then with Julia and Joel! I really love that with Amber too!!
Spoilers here too!!
So the Luncheonette was up and running again too, think Crosby is running it by himself, or with Adam??
grapefruit / 4056 posts
The interview did answer a lot of questions it seems! I was all like "SPOILERS" ... Did Victors Mom have yet another baby, it is it Joel and Julia's? Did Amber meet a guy and have a daughter right away? What's going on?!
grapefruit / 4441 posts
@MrsBrewer: Crosby was running the luncheonette with Amber (and Adam was the head master at Chambers - which I loved!)). Crosby told Zeke at the wedding that Adam no longer wanted to do it and Zeke encouraged him to do it by himself. Crosby spoke to Jasmine, who said she always believed in him and would support him (loved it!). Crosby went to Adam at the wedding and said that he had an idea to rent out the upstairs and office of the luncheonette and only use the recording studio part until they were making money again. That way he could maybe afford to run it on his own. Adam said it was a great idea, one he wished he'd thought of himself. Then Crosby asked Amber at the wedding if she was up for reopening with him... he would be the "new Adam" and she would be the "new Crosby". Loved it! I also loved that Camille went to France (though it's too bad Zeke didn't get to take her, she did seem to like to travel on her own), and also loved that she wouldn't be alone with Amber and the baby living with her (at least initially, until Amber got married). I felt like it was a very satisfying ending.

@MrsBrewer: and did you notice Crosby and his wife were expecting again? I loved when he told her about her ovaries twitching when she was holding baby Zeke.

@78h2o: OHhh!!! Yep, I think I might have fallen asleep during that part where Crosby was talking to Adam at the wedding. I am not a night owl at all!! Thanks for the explanation!
@Mamasig: Yes!! I saw that Jasmine was pregnant!! I loved that!!!!

Can I admit something strange? My computer has been on the fritz but I have zero pâtience and I love parenthood so I decided to just READ about it instead. Sobbing tears! Just from reading about the end! Can't wait to actual see it. Hahaha

@MrsMccarthy: Not alone! I won't be able to watch until tomorrow but I needed to know what happened so I've been reading instead

I just finished watching it and I have a splitting headache from trying to hold in the tears hahah. I hate that it's over but I love that they knew it was ending and got to wrap everything up. I loved how they showed everyone down the road and how things turned out

Ha, I was hoping there was a thread about this on here! I just watched and cried the entire way through. Such a beautiful ending!

I couldn't have asked for a better ending! I loved how everything was tied together. One thing I always wanted to happen, but didn't, was I wish the Luncheonette could have recorded Amber for her big break! Or Amber and Drew as a duo, when they sang together that one time, I loved it!

It was SO good. Tied as my favorite series finale ever with Six Feet Under. That Peter Krause!
@MsMini: I'd assume the new baby was their bio!

Okay I'm just going to say it. I'M ANGRY.
Sigh.
Why, Zeke?
Like he clearly thought/knew he was close to death. He was saying his goodbyes. So if you're that close to death, roll the dice and have the damn surgery! It was a CHANCE to be with your family. A chance to be a part of everything wonderful to come!
Otherwise I was happy with it but I was just so angry that he wouldn't fight to stay with his family and that he missed all of that awesomeness and that poor Camille has to live her third act alone.

@Mae: I get what you're saying, but I agreed with his decision.. Hindsight is 20-20. They told him the procedure would be super risky and there was no guarantee it would work. He could have died on the operating table, or made it through, suffered through recovery, and still died. Or lived for a long time...there was no way of knowing how much time he'd have with the operation or without, so I don't blame him for wanting to enjoy his time with his family.

@regberadaisy: I said almost the exact same thing last night!!!! Six Feet Under was my all-time favorite show and his finale pulled at my heartstrings in such a familiar way too.
Amazing finale. I want to watch it again but think I might need a few days to process the first viewing. Hello, waterworks!
apricot / 268 posts
@78h2o: Yeah, that's how I felt too. I kind of assumed from how the dr. presented his options to him that if he'd gone with the surgery, he wouldn't have made it through or wouldn't have recovered well enough to get to do things like walk Sarah down the aisle.
But my DH always reminds me to stop thinking of "what if?" with tv shows because "it's fiction! There were no other options because no other options were made up!" Haha.
papaya / 10343 posts
@78h2o: Bah. It just felt like he knew he was very very close to the end. I guess I'd always rather go down swinging, fighting and clawing for more time with my family than to sit idly by.
grapefruit / 4441 posts
@cait: that sounds like something my husband would say. I know it's fiction, but it's still fun to analyze!

I just finished watching & cried ugly tears. Full out sobbing over here.
I've never cared about a tv show before!
persimmon / 1481 posts
@Mae: I totally agree with you! We made it through the whole season without him dying and then they have to show him slumped over in the chair!! So morbid!
blogger / persimmon / 1225 posts
@78h2o: Thanks for the extra info!
I LOVED the ending. Great closure and a good cry (as usual with that show). My BFF are seriously going to miss the Bravermans!!

I don't cry much at TV shows, but I did choke up when I saw Camille in France on her own. Pretty great ending, I thought, in that it really wrapped everything up for viewers, while still allowing us to imagine these characters moving forward.
pomegranate / 3565 posts
@Mae: I probably would have made the same choice as Zeke. He got to die on his terms. I guess I wouldn't want to die in an operating room. Though it's sad it had to come to that.

@Mrs. Jump Rope: Same! My husband and I have shed so many tears over this show.
blogger / coconut / 8306 posts
No one has said this, so I'll bring it up. I was so happy to see jasmine pregnant!
Was drew with Amy or was that ruby at the dinner table?
SO HAPPY Mille made it to Chez Marie. It was the first thing I noticed.
And the major waterworks started when max for his diploma and SMILED. I've faithfully watched this show every Thursday night since the pilot and I don't think max has ever smiled. Man that was awesome, he was so proud!
grapefruit / 4079 posts
@Mrs. Jump Rope: I teach children on the spectrum and loved that part as well. I also loved at the wedding when he smiled (while looking away) at a family photo and danced with a girl. Amazing!
I loved this show and am so sad to see it end. I was watching Greys thinking, "how is this show with such little depth staying on but Parenthood has to end?" Ugh.
blogger / coconut / 8306 posts
@ladybee: yes, I think that about greys too! I haven't watched that yet. It's still in my DVR. I could go weeks without watching and not care. Parenthood was something I've watched from day 1 and never missed!
I'm really happy with the way he wrapped up the show.
So glad the luncheonette stayed open & amber was the new Crosby.
Though I do wonder what happened to haddie! I don't remember seeing her or Norah in the flash forwards?
