I think it may totally just depend on the materials of the specific piece. If it's metal I would think it would be fine in the short term on a covered patio. Long term over 5 years or so it may rust.

I really like it,, but I don't know about outside.. not just for rust but for dust. I feel like there would be a good amount of build up on that. But I guess it kind of depends on the area and how much you're willing to upkeep. Very nice though!!

I love that piece! But I'd be concerned that the paint would not wear well when exposed to moisture as well as sunlight. You might end up with something that looks a lot less blue than it did originally...and it's hard to say if that would happen five years from now, when you'd be ready for an update anyway, or five months from now, when you'd be super disappointed.

I've seen some similar pieces (though not as pretty colors) at Target and Homegoods. If the price were significantly less and you're into DIY at all, you could probably add a blue tint.
