I've noticed during my past two periods that putting in a tampon hurts, but the pain feels like it's in my uterus. A couple of times this week I've had to remove a tampon right after insertion because of the cramping. Other times it only bothers me going in but then the cramping goes away.
I have my annual exam with my OB coming up but I'm wondering if anyone else has experienced this?

After I had my lo, I found tampons really uncomfortable, kind of like your description. I also felt like it wasn't right, like I'd leak, which never happened before with a tampon, and i'd change it but it obviously wasn't filled up. Unfortunately it lasted for a few years! I kind of figured it had to do with things shifting after having a baby and it did go back to normal for me. I was bad and didn't visit the gyno for years after lo, but definitely ask when you go to your appt.

@JerricaBenton: The same thing happens to me with leaking. I'll have just a few spots on the tampon but it'll be all over my underwear.
Funny thing is I had a c-section! So who knows.
Glad to hear I'm not the only one who has experienced this!

@mrskansas: i had a c-section, too! No complications, very easy recovery! I just thought maybe it's your uterus had shifted or changed in some way? I totally don't know but it did eventually start working again for me - Hope it does for you too! It definitely sucked for a while because I pretty much exclusively used tampons so it was frustrating!
ETA: thinking about it now...i wonder if it could be internal scar tissue from the c-section that changed the shape of things?? Just a random thought!

Could you be hitting your cervix with it? That can definitely cause cramping and leaking. I had that problem with the diva cup (ouch, ouch, ouch) and then got one made specifically for a low cervix and it worked great.

If it's new it seems worth asking but my tampon experience also changed a lot with having kids. I figure it's a pelvic floor issue and the heaviness of the baby pre labor was probably as bad as labor itself. I've had better luck switching brands, right now I use u by Kotex click.

@periwinklebee: Maybe I should try a Diva cup! I've always wondered about them but have yet to bite the bullet.
I learned through pregnancy and labor that my cervix is not at all sensitive so even if I was hitting it, I doubt I would feel it.

@bhbee: It is concerning because it is a new thing. I got my first PP period a year and a half ago and this pain just now started happening.
I've been wondering if I have some sort of infection that could also be causing TTC issues. I'm definitely asking my doctor at my appointment!

Have you tried a different brand? I found Tampax to be awful, but Playtex (which seems to be shorter) much better.

I had this happen and it went away once I started using a menstrual cup. But I have no idea why!

@Grace: I couldn't use Tampax anymore after my first baby was born! I never knew why but length makes sense.

I might try a different brand next month. I just started using Tampax last month and that could be the common denominator.
I'm also considering trying a cup to see what that's like!
Some of these comments have made me think about the movie We're the Miller where the lady talks about her "shallow vagina" haha. Maybe that is my issue!

I started getting super sick when using tampons even if it was only in for a few minutes. I finally made the switch to a cup and have been fine ever since. My periods also got shorter and lighter. I'd totally recommend trying a menstrual cup!!

I'm no help but I've also been having tampon issues since having LO2. About once a period my body gets really cramps expels the tampon like mini labor. Not cool, especially at work.

I also had trouble with tampons post partum. They would feel like they were falling out! I switched to Diva cup a while back and I like it much better. No leaks, barely any cramping, and I only have to worry about it a couple times a day.

Yes to menstrual cups! I wish I had one when I was a teenager! I had the same problem after kids and stopped using tampons, but then had rashes from pads. Menstrual cups improved everything for me! Also I was hesitant, but YouTube has tons of helpful videos.

@mrskansas: I use the meluna cup. I've never had any issues with it. Sometimes if I'm rushed putting it in, it leaks a bit but I can always reinsert it. The absolute best thing (besides the health issues of tampons) is you can leave the cup in alllllll day and not worry about it!!!
