Not currently pregnant, but when I was with my first I had some lady at the grocery store ask me how dilated I was?! There was no other questions just oh you're pregnant! How many centimeters dilated are you?

It was also super weird when family asked but the stranger was the topper!

I got the "were you trying?" question a few times also...

The weirdest one I can think of actually came from my mom. The first thing out of her mouth when we told her I was pregnant was, "how did this happen?" In her defense, I had previously told her we were planning to wait until we'd been married 5 years and I we'd been married about 2 years at that point.

I was shocked at how many people asked me how dilated I was. Coworkers were asking me and it started at 36 weeks. I was so shocked.

Well this baby is due two days after LO1’s bday so we get a lot of looks and comments about that. Both babies were planned around my school year calendar to maximize my maternity leave, there’s no other reason!

My last pregnancy I was alone in an elevator with 2 men (they didn’t know each other) and one said out of no where “do you have a breast pump yet?” And at first I ignored because I thought no way he’d be asking me, what an odd question. Then he said louder “did you get your breast pump yet?” And I must have looked kinda scared because he realized how weird it was and then stuttered and explained that he works in insurance and wanted to make sure I got my free breast pump. It was so strange.

This time no questions, just annoying comments.

I pretty much get the "you know what causes that, right?" And "are you going to have another?" Who is thinking about more kids when you're pregnant???

Was it an accident?

@Mae: gaaaah my dad is like this too, with trying to figure out conception dates, so so so gross!! with lo1, we were on vacation in Paris shortly before we conceived and my dad often is like "ahhhh Paris" which is a) GROSS stop thinking about me having sex, dad! and b) factually incorrect, because I was on my period in Paris, thank you very much...

@nana87: @Mae: omg we have the same thing where we were away right before we came back and conceived LO1, several of my awkward older relatives were like oooh la la a french baby! and i'm like, you're bad at math and also ewwww i don't want to talk about this with you long enough to correct you! we're now very early days with LO2 and just got back from a trip to germany/austria and i just KNOW i'm going to hear the same stupid jokes about oktoberfest.

also several people who work for a client of mine asked me about how much weight i had gained, which is bad enough when a close family member asks you about it.

In my office there were 5 people that were expecting with due dates within 6 weeks of each other. We all happened to tell HR around the same time. I was one of the last and my HR asked if there was some event that happened we all got knocked up at the same time. Ummm weird and no.

We were Team Green. At about 8 months, an old family friend saw MIL at the grocery and said she heard about our pregnancy. She asked MIL, "it's a girl, right?" Obviously she would have no way of knowing...she probably just mixed us up with someone else.
Well MIL was convinced that we knew the gender and didn't tell her. Like we would tell some random friend no one's talked to in 10 years over our immediate family... She would constantly ask me if we knew and were keeping it a secret. I don't know how many times I said NO!!!!
We ended up having a boy, so I'm glad she must at least accept we weren't lying!!

@muffinsmuffins: Yes us too. We got a lot of well, who is the dad? Erm no Dad ... we have an anonymous donor ....

With every pregnancy, I’ve gotten the “was it planned” 🙄

During my first pregnancy while I was still WOH, a young male coworker asked me “how many lbs have you gained?” I told him he’d be smart to never ask that to another pregnant woman (or human in general) ever again.

Currently pregnant with our third boy, and getting super annoyed by people’s “sympathy” when they find out it’s a boy. Or comments like “have to try once more for a girl then!” Ummmm. I’ll finish baking this one first and go from there. Thanks though.

My husband's grandmother asked when the baby was conceived. WHY THOUGH!

A friend of mine at church and I were pregnant at about the same time (her baby was born 8 days before mine), and someone at church asked if we planned it Yeah, the four of us sat down and figured out when to do the deed so we could be pregnant at the same time...awkward.

I think somebody did ask if it was planned for my last pregnancy. Very odd, but I just answered yes, and moved on.

Not during pregnancy, but I remember LO1's daycare teacher remarking that her birthday was the most common birthday and that it was "because New Year's Eve!". Umm, no, that would have meant she was 2.5 weeks late, but ok. (In her defense, I think Sept birthdays, i.e. holidays and NYE conceptions, really are the most common, but my girl was born in October).

The weirdest question I got last year when pregnant with our twins was: Did you plan having twins?
How in the world do you plan a spontaneous twin pregnancy? (Oh and by the way: who’s crazy enough to “plan” a twin pregnancy when you have a 3 & 1 year old)

Same, was it planned? I find that incredibly rude to ask.
