Yesterday, I was in a childrens store without DD when
the lady working there asked, "when are you due?" 
ugh, I was so embarrassed. I'm six months post partum and I was super bloated from all the crappy holiday food...but still I haven't worked out or really dieted.
So, DH and I started working out today! Have you ever been asked, "when are you due?" Or pregnancy related questions when you aren't pregnant?

Yes. They thought I was still pregnant. In reality, we lost our baby at 20 weeks.

I wish people would not ask that, ever. I was asked several times before and during TTC and it bothered me a lot.
I can't even imagine how much it would have hurt me if I had just lost a baby. -

I'm sorry.I had someone say "We hear you are expecting, and looked at my stomach"...nope my LO was 3 weeks at that time.

@mrbee: I said, "oh no, I already had my baby." and I wouldn't have felt that bad but then she asked "when was that?" ouch! I wish I would have told her a few months ago!

Our vet asked when I was due. But the dog had somehow gotten to my brand new bottle of prenatals and we were there to make sure she wasn't poisoned, so given the circumstances it wasn't too far a jump. I told her I wasn't and she said "your DH is so cute, it'll be fun making one." Even more awkward...

Kinda. Someone asked me about my due date before I found out I was pregnant! I was really offended but I felt silly the next week!

@Bao: yup. You really learn how insensitive some people can be. I've been hesitant to really go hardcore with working out since we are still trying. I've been worried that it will affect ttc, but I told DH that I was done worrying about. I think we are signing up for a 5k in February.
I'm just done with people sticking their foot in their mouths.

my aunt did at my nana's funeral. it was kinda awful since we've been, unsuccessfully, trying. so it was like, nope, just fat. fat, with a dead nana & i can't make babies.... anything else?!? haha. i haven't worn that dress again since =D

When I gained weight in college I got asked by a coworker who didn't work directly with me, I gain on my belly and was wearing an empire shirt, and it was a man asking. He asked by making a pregnant belly motion on his body saying "are you?" with a big friendly smile on his face. I cried the whole way home from work that day lol

@mrs. bird: talk about kicking somebody when they are down! I am sure that wasn't her intention (well, I don't know your aunt but I would assume if you were mourning the loss of your nana, no one would intentionally say that!) but it stings!

Yes, two or three times, bf I was married r anything. It was so embarrassing the first time, after that I purposely made Poole feel bad. Like, just said, no, I'm not, and starred at them. They should feel bad!

Yes! I've never been pregnant either! At one of my previous jobs, I often did tours of the facility. A woman came for a tour and I was eating an ice cream in the office when she arrived. She asked me in the elevator if I was pregnant because apparently my dress made my tummy look a little more round than usual and because I was eating ice cream. It was sooooo weird and awkward when I said no. I didn't realize eating ice cream = pregnant.

A coworker came up to me and whispered, "you're pregnant??", I asked him if it was because I was looking fat or what. He said he could always tell when people are pregnant because of empire-waisted shirts. I told him I was not. And never wore that shirt again.

Yes I got asked this A LOT before I really was pregnant an then once I had the baby I made the mistake of wearing a maxi dressed weeks pp.

I was at BRU with my SIL and was holding some of her baby gear, I leand back to stretch and put my hand on my lower back, which apparently means that you are pregnant. A lady behind me yelled 'When are you due?!!" And without skipping a beat I yelled "When the $%*k are you due?!?!" She was ovbiously mortified, and I felt really bad, but damn. I was like 16 at the time, and look pretty young, so I was pretty irked that she assumed I was pregnant.

Yes, I was traveling a couple of years ago and a random old foreign woman on an airplane asked me if I was "having the baby" and patted her stomach. Uh, no. But thanks.

It's so mortifying to get asked that. It really motivates me to work out though. I mean, I have some fluff around my mid-section but shoot, when I was pregnant I looked bigger than I am now, even in the first trimester.

Just in situations where I wasn't drinking. Being newlyweds, everyone was watching me like a hawk!

People ask me sometimes, but it's usually in joke. (Like "so did you drink the water too? HAHA!") When you've been trying for a long time even those jokes start to sting though.

Yep. I was on the train wearing a big bulky coat and a woman on the train said "oh, are you pregnant? would you like my seat?"
haha I was like uh. nooo.

It happened once when I was working at an airport bar. The customer said "what are you like five months along?" I was PISSED. The bartender escorted the customer away. From then on I was extremely aware of what I was wearing and how I carried myself.

Yes, I was about 20 and wearing what I thought was a cute, flowy top. I was also about 40 pounds lighter than I am now. I went to CVS to get a prescription filled and the tech asked me when I was due. I told her I wasn't pregnant and she says 'Oh, that's embarrassing.' Um, thanks lady!! I cried and threw away the shirt

Yes I have been asked. Sadly it was just weight gain. Even after I told her I had just gained weight she came back with are you sure, you sure do look pregnant. Hello!!

Newly married and working in a high school, I've lost track of the amount of times students have asked me whether I am pregnant. Had three days off with the flu, get back to school and "Miss, are you pregnant?" "No, why do you think that?" "Cause you just had three days off school and you still don't look very well". Joke was on them, my 40 year old work colleague was pregnant and they never even noticed.
Also, when needing to make an announcement about their assessment : "Guys, listen up, I have an important announcement re..." "You're pregnant!"... Uh no!
I'm pretty sure that the one time I am, they won't even notice. -
@Sugar.Biscuit: Wow, that person needs to learn that once you've stuck your foot that far down your throat, there is no recovery. Just hang your head and walk away person.
I can't believe how many insensitive people there are out there! I only ever say something if it's someone I know and I have previously received confirmation that they are indeed pregnant. Otherwise, the mouth stays shut!

Yep, all the time. I got married quick, so people thought I was pregnant like a shotgun wedding. And I have put on 15-20 lbs since getting married. I get it. Doesn't motivate me to lose weight.

This happened to me twice:
1. I wasn't even TTC. I was working FT as a mgr at a retail store and while a customer was checking out she asked me if I was pregnant... I was wearing a fitted tan with a flyaway cardigan, I didn't have the flattest stomach but I was certainly not fat!!! I sooo did not look pregnant. So I told the lady I wasn't pregnant and she said, "OH ...." awkward silence.... "I really like your shirt... D'oh.
2. I was 4 weeks PP and went to go get a pedicure. I was so excited about feeling food that I wore a more fitted dress and DH even commented that I looked so skinny! Then a lady in the chair next to me at the nail salon asked when I was due
talk about a confidence buster seriously!! I said my son was 4 weeks old and she was soooo embarrassed.

My uncle asked me at my sisters wedding. I normally have a bit of a belly but I guess I normally hide it better. I just replied no with a smile and that was that.
I never, never, NEVER ask a woman if she's pregnant, even if she appears ready to pop at any moment.

I have never been asked but at about 5 months, my neighbor (who I barely know) was like "any day now, huh?" I was like......."I'm 5m". It was awkward after that. It feels good to know I looked like I was ready to pop when in reality I was only 20w along:(

Twice, but both were actually kind of funny. Once, when I was 16 and in the Barnes & Nobel bathroom puking from food poisoning. I came out of the stall and as I was walking to the sink some lady asked if I was. The next time was about 5 years ago, I was wearing a flowy top and our niece (who was only 5 at the time) looked at my stomach and really adorably said "Ohhh, is there a baby in there?"

Yes! A few times. I was not overweight before getting pregnant but it's like everyone was on baby-watch. Like in the tabloids when they show a picture of a celeb wearing some unflattering outfit and say she's clearly 'showing'. Also just like anyone I would go up and down in weight a little, or eat a big meal and be bloated. So I've been asked 3 or 4 times over the last few years if I'm pregnant or when I was due. It usually happened at work, too. Nice.

I'm a billion percent certain this will happen after the twins are born, and I'm terrified because I'm sure I'll just burst into a hot-mess of sleep-deprived, I-want-my-body-back tears.

I used to work at a law firm and one day a debtor who came in regularly asked me verbatim, "Are you pregnant or are you just getting fatter?"
Umm...I weighed like 130 pounds! I wanted to jump across that desk and strangle him. What a jerk!
It blows my mind that adults don't have the common sense not to ask. I now teach middle school and am noticeably pregnant. My students could tell but were still too embarrassed to ask me. One day, another teacher asked me a baby question and all of my students were like, "Finally! We wanted to ask you about it but we knew it was rude to ask!"
How can 120 13-year-old students grasp that concept but not grown adults?!
