My 4 week old LO got a tongue and lip tie release today. I've been pumping and bottle feeding most feedings the few days prior to the release because breastfeeding was too painful and frustrating for both of us. Any feedings on the breast were with a shield. The few times that we have tried nursing post frenectomy today haven't gone too smoothly. He will latch with the shield, but when I take the shield off he refuses the nipple or latches on with a shallow latch. It doesn't feel a whole lot better than before the frenectomy. I plan to call my LC tomorrow for help. Just a few questions for anyone whose LO has had the procedure done.

1. How long after your LOs frenectomy did nursing feel "normal"?

2. Did your ENT, doctor, or LC suggest any exercises or things to do to help nursing?

3. Any other tips or advice you can give me to help us be successful? I so desperately want breastfeeding to work out and I have to go back to work in 2 weeks!

Thanks all!
