Advice: whenever you are really worried, go in.

For me it was bleeding and then contractions that were noticeable but not painful (at first). They were very low in my case.

Yes I would definitely get checked out right away. My friend has precipitous labours and delivered her 3rd at 34 weeks and felt little to no discomfort (beyond usual 3rd tri aches and pains) before being in active labour. Her first was born at 37 weeks and her second at 36 and some days.

@matador84: Our baby #2 arrived even earlier at 36w than LO1 (37w)and while it all went well in the end, we could have gone in earlier as soon as the show started. Since it all unravelled so quickly. Baby was delivered five mins after arriving at hospital which was pretty fine! For me, I had been having BH contractions since 23 weeks and from about 33/34 weeks they were quite frequent and uncomfortable at work etc. Midwife wasn't concerned but I'm still sure that it was all part of it happening so early (36 weeks). I had no discomfort the night I went into labour though - went from 0-100 in like three hours! Sorry if this is rambling but what I am trying to say is, if you feel like something is off, go in and get checked out! as an aside, we were told at some antenatal classes that third births aren't necessarily the fastest (second births usually are), so I don't know if that helps at all! I agree with previous posters, if you have concerns, go in. Besides a manual check, they can measure your cervical length by ultrasound, so if your pains are some contractions, they can monitor if it's having an effect on your cervix. Between 31 and 32 weeks my cervix went from "nice and long" to "so short we won't let you leave the hospital", having the same Braxton hicks contractions I'd been having since 19 weeks. Hope you can see your doc soon and get some peace of mind!
