Ok I figured out a photo! Thoughts? I cannot tell what is what. This was TV, 6w6d
honeydew / 7295 posts
@PrincessBaby: my guess is girl!! But this is way less accurate than nub shots! Although those didn't help you out much last time. When will you find out?
cantaloupe / 6923 posts
@MrsMccarthy: you are nice and congrats on your girl!! I'm just going with girl.
cantaloupe / 6923 posts
@MrsMccarthy: mine wasn't a tv. Does that matter? It looks towards the right to me. Which would be left?
honeydew / 7295 posts
@yellowbird: dead center! I hope you get a nub shot! My LO was not cooperative at all in that department this time.

This is baby #2 today at a little over 6 weeks. TV ultrasound. So if I am looking at it right, it predicts another boy...I think?
cantaloupe / 6610 posts
I hate to be a Debbie Downer but the only way Ramzi theory works is if you had the person performing the ultrasound take what is called a "transverse" image. Otherwise, there is no way to know how the probe was angled and up could be down, left could be right. Once you have verified the shot is transverse, then the theory applies. But most u/s shots are not even close to being transverse. Also, if it's transverse, it doesn't matter if it's TV or on the belly. Transverse is transverse.
I did a lot of research on it and was super bummed that it is so specific:(

@Mrs. Jump Rope: I didn't get a great nub shot but it looks girly to me. My gut tell me boy though! 4 weeks til I find out!

Exactly what @PrincessBaby: said. As a tech, I can totally verify this is true.
Side note- I was going to be the Debbie downer, but you beat me to it!

@PrincessBaby: @ustechie: I know at least for me, this is all just fun. I'm not painting my nursery or buying any gender specific thing based on a theory. I'll hold my breath until the anatomy scan. To me it's just like doing the wives tales. They're fun to do, but most people don't put a lot of stock into them.
cantaloupe / 6610 posts
@Boopers: I get it, it's just that it actually is pretty accurate if it's transverse. That's what it's all based on. Otherwise, it's not applicable at all. It's not even worth the time to upload the pic and speculate bc it is probably upside down and inside out. So that took all the "fun" out of it for me once I found that out, so I was just sharing the knowledge bc I wouldn't have even uploaded mine if I'd known that. It's literally impossible to know direction if it's not transverse. To me, that's no fun!

@PrincessBaby: I still think it's fun to guess!! you don't know til you know. It's a fun time passer.
cantaloupe / 6610 posts
@yellowbird: Ok! I just pointed out the pointlessness of non-transverse images. If it's fun for you, go for it! I just see everyone worrying about this way or that way or TV or abdominal and I stated the facts! You have to have a transverse image, and that's all.
honeydew / 7303 posts
@PrincessBaby: True! If people know ahead of time they can just ask their sonographer which side, which is what I did. Mine said left but i'm still convinced baby is a boy. We'll see!
honeydew / 7295 posts
@PrincessBaby: yeah I read that too and it makes a lot of sense. All I knew going in was that I ovulated from my left ovary because she showed me and told me but then I couldn't remember which side she showed me on and who knows how much she manipulated the screen. It's all in good fun but its definitely more complicated than nub guessing.

Okay! I had my first ultrasound today. It was a transvaginal ultrasound, and I even remembered to ask the doctor which side the placenta was on. She said it's all over. When I told her why I was asking, she laughed and said that she had not heard of ramzi's method. She must think I'm a goofball. I also told her, that on one of the yoga websites it says doing jump backs to chatarunga may dislodge your baby in the first trimester. She laughed really hard at that one She said I ovulated from my left ovary. Any guesses *in good fun* whether you think boy or girl? Clearly, I'm not going to start buying gender specific gear, or tell the world. Just something to add to my old wives tale list!

I asked for a transverse shot and the tech said the baby was right smack in the middle back. Oh well!

@MrsMccarthy: @yellowbird: I'd be super shocked! In my basket of fun, I've only had morning sickness once from the smell of next day donuts, pretty much feel normal (fingers crossed this doesn't change), skin looks the same, and we conceived on ovulation day according to the ultrasound. Oh, and our trusty Chinese gender predictor says boy . So, the old wive's tales are leading me to boy, but it is still super early lol. It took a while to get pregnant, so I honestly have no preference. I think it's neat testing out all the theories. Can you tell where the placenta is at all? It all just looks like a black hole to me!
GOLD / watermelon / 14076 posts
@dc yoga bee: Yep I'm guessing girl. Every single wives tale pointed me to boy, and I have a girl! So you never know
No idea about the placenta. The techs used to always describe it as white in my ultrasounds, so maybe it's that white patch below the baby? Totally just a guess!
honeydew / 7303 posts
@dc yoga bee: I can't tell anything but I assume it's over there by baby since everything is still developing thus early. My morning sickness hit with a vengence around 7 weeks and is still here at 16 weeks I hope yours stays away!!

@anonysquire: congrats I'm glad #2 didn't take too long for you!
@MrsMccarthy: congrats on the girl! How fun one each

Bumping this for some theories!

@LindsayInNY: I don't know about the sex but the top baby looks like a violin! So I am guessing future musician
bananas / 9229 posts
@Anya: Haha, looked like a frog to me so I'll take musician over amphibian
@Mrs. Jump Rope: That's been my gut feeling since even TTC! No acne, no m/s, craving salty or carbs over sweets...

@LindsayInNY: I'm guessing boy too!
FWIW mine turned out to be two boys.

How does this theory work? Im so confused. I regularly confuse my left and my right so saying transverse and reversing things confuses me even more. I am looking at my scans of my son and daughter trying to understand this and I am lost. I heard about the skull theory and nub theory before but this is brand new and Im curious about it.
