Ramzi's roundup: post your first ultrasound

I thought it would be fun to post our early ultrasounds and see how they correlate with Ramzi's gender theory.

Here is info on Ramzi's in case you are like WTF:

http://pregnancy.about.com/od/genderpredictions1/ss/Ramzis-Method-To-Determine-Fetal-Gender.htm

It seems that if you had a transvaginal ultrasound then you should lay it on your belly upright and left we be left and right will be right. If you had an abdominal ultrasound then when you look at the phograph head on right will be right and left will be left.

Based on this it seems like we have another boy on the way. (Mine was TV)

This was my LO at 7w5d and was TV. I think by this method it would predict boy? But she's a girl.

@Mae: aww she is so baby already at 7 weeks. I think there is a 20% chance of it being wrong and sometimes the tech can change the view on the screen. like most things it's just for fun but it's a bit more scientific than say, heart rate or how you are carrying.

Here is the first US with my son. This one is Abdominal and he is ALL boy!

This was TV at 8 weeks, and I think it predicts girl.

Sooo I have no idea how to determine which side the placenta is on in this picture, but this is the first ultrasound where they gave us a picture to take home at exactly 8weeks. She's now a perfect three week old girl!

ETA this was a tv us.

I had an abdominal at 6w4d. We're having a girl.

  7. MrsMccarthy

@lauraeabel: yours seems to fit the theory!

@stargal: yes they would be so sweet together. I have had a strong feeling its a boy early on.

@rins72: this seems to fit the theory as well since its reversed. So far only one seems to be wrong.

okay so I totally don't get it - but from using my doppler I am 99% sure that my placenta is on *my* right. like, I hear the whoosh-whoosh over there, but not when I go toward my left.

so..what's that mean? lol. I just cannot wrap my head around the right/left mirror images, your left my right. I'm tired.

  9. MrsMccarthy

    honeydew / 7295 posts

@sorrycharlie: hahhaha it's very confusing BUT basically if you had a transvaginal ultrasound between 6-8 weeks take a copy of it and place it on your belly with the top towards your head, whichever side the baby is on is the side you most likely have the placenta on. If your first ultrasound was abdominal (over the tummy) you can just look right at it and if baby is on the left Girl on the right Boy.

Everything I've read said that you can't tell by feel. A tech could tell you though. Sometimes images can be skewed by tech moving the wand around and It's just for fun of course.

Mine was at 8w and transvaginal. If I hold it up to my belly the baby is on the left. I have a girl.

@MrsMccarthy: I can't figure out where the placenta is in the photo, lol. I sent it to you, I didn't wanna post the whole strip online. I didn't mean I could feel where it is, but when I use the doppler, the placenta seems to be on the right from what I can hear - when I move toward my left I usually find baby.

  12. MrsMccarthy

    honeydew / 7295 posts

@sorrycharlie: where did you send it? Was your first one over the belly or TV?

@lawbee11: ooh another one that's right!

  13. sorrycharlie

@MrsMccarthy: facebook did it work? it was tv.

    hostess / watermelon / 14932 posts

this is my first with my DD. it was transvaginal. I can't tell what the heck is a placenta on here, though.

edit: it's also crooked, so you kinda have to turn your head to see it "straight on"

  15. MrsMccarthy

    honeydew / 7295 posts

@sorrycharlie: okay I looked! Baby is so big is a bit hard to tell but it looks to me like a boy result! Baby seems to be more on the left side of the screen when I look which would be your right if you placed the photo on your tummy!!! When is your anatomy scan?

    @sorrycharlie: that's a girl result for O!

  16. sorrycharlie

    hostess / watermelon / 14932 posts

@MrsMccarthy: and that correlates with me thinking my placenta IS on my right side, correct? anatomy scan is 8/28.

  17. sorrycharlie

    hostess / watermelon / 14932 posts

@MrsMccarthy: but in the shot above of O, baby is also to the left. lol. and she's totally a girl

  18. MrsMccarthy

    honeydew / 7295 posts

@sorrycharlie: can't wait to find out! I is on the left but she was a tummy ultrasound so it's true left. With this baby you reverse it since it was TV.

Just jumping in to say that Transvaginal ultrasounds are not mirrored, so what you're looking at is what it is.

Abdominal ultrasounds are mirrored, so whatever is on the right is actually on the left.

  26. Mrs. Jump Rope

    blogger / coconut / 8306 posts

@FaithFertility: nope theory says girl. TV ultrasounds are not mirrored.

  27. sorrycharlie

    hostess / watermelon / 14932 posts

@Mrs. Jump Rope: iiiiinteresting. I don't know where the heck to even find a placenta in any of my pictures, to be honest! so this whole thing baffles me. lol. I don't know how I'm going to wait another 3.5 weeks.

  28. FaithFertility

    eggplant / 11861 posts

@Mrs. Jump Rope: ahhhh gotcha So this stands correct for me!

  29. FaithFertility

    eggplant / 11861 posts

@sorrycharlie: its not so much the placenta but what side baby is on more! .....I think. ...lol

  30. sorrycharlie

    hostess / watermelon / 14932 posts

    @FaithFertility: lol! the link says,

"In using this data, Dr. Ramzi Ismail concluded that at six weeks gestation, 97.2% of the male fetuses had a placenta or chorionic villi on the right side of the uterus. When it came to female fetuses, there were 97.5% of the chorionic villi or placenta on the left side of the uterus."

and I'm all over here like, okay I see the baby's head, but where the f is the placenta? it's all a big black hole!

  31. Mrs. Jump Rope

    blogger / coconut / 8306 posts

@sorrycharlie: in your first us with O, the placenta is the brighter white area to the top left of baby.

  32. sorrycharlie

    hostess / watermelon / 14932 posts

@Mrs. Jump Rope: oh!! i see. I was looking IN the black hole. aka, uterus.

  33. sorrycharlie

    hostess / watermelon / 14932 posts

@Mrs. Jump Rope: sooo..is it right for me? correct, I mean. lol. it's on the left, yes?

  34. Mrs. Jump Rope

    blogger / coconut / 8306 posts

    @sorrycharlie: yes!

  35. FaithFertility

    eggplant / 11861 posts

@sorrycharlie: hmmmm then I am lost too.....with my first u/s

  36. Mrs. Jump Rope

    blogger / coconut / 8306 posts

@FaithFertility: nope, you're is also correctly a girl based on the theory. I can see the placenta on the left.

  37. sorrycharlie

    hostess / watermelon / 14932 posts

okay so is that a placenta above the baby's back here? or is it the white spot on the right? this is baby 2.

  38. FaithFertility

    eggplant / 11861 posts

@Mrs. Jump Rope: This is neat! Most stanf true!!!

  39. Mrs. Jump Rope

    blogger / coconut / 8306 posts

@sorrycharlie: my guess is another girl.

Eta: yes white spot above baby's back
