I just finished At the Water's Edge and I didn't even know it was written by the same author as Water for Elephants until I picked it up from the library. I LOVED it, but now I need something new. I recently read The Nightingale and All The Light We Cannot See, so apparently I have a thing for WWII period fiction right now.

I just finished All The Light We Cannot See too and started the Nightingale, haha! I didn't realize the latter was WWII as well until I started it.

I just finished At the Water's Edge last week! If you don't mind books written in the form of letters (I've been reading a lot of them lately as well), then check out Letters from Skye and The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society - both set during WWII.

If you like WWII historical fiction I HIGHLY recommend The Invisible Bridge. It is beautifully written and deeply engrossing. And terribly sad, of course.

@erinbaderin: I think my mom gave it to me as a gift and I ended up lending it to her and my sister and they both loved it!! It looks like she does have another book out called Bellman and Black. I'll have to check the library!!

I agree- Invisible Bridge is amazing! I had my mom and husband both read it and they were in love too. I just read Unbroken (nonfiction, WWII), it was really interesting. Speaking of Ann Patchet, Truth and Beauty and also Bel Canto are amazing books. For a light and wonderful read, anything by Rainbow Rowell, especially Carry On.

As a family we are reading March, the John Lewis comic book on the Civil Rights Movement. There are two other two co-authors, but I forgot their names. It's a three part comic book series.

I just finished What Alice Forgot by Liame Moriarty. It was great--like stay up late to see what happens great!
It is the third book I read by her and I have liked all of them. I also really enjoyed Jojo Moyes books lately too!

I am currently reading Falling Towers by Jewell Parker Rhodes. It's a children's book about 9/11. Then after that I plan to begin 1421: The Year China Discovered America by Gavin Menzies.

@Bao: it was a quick read for me while we were camping- less than 24 hours. Some parts were a touch slow/repetitive. I figured out the final twist about halfway through- and it was unreal- I was so anxious to see if I was right I could not put it down.

I'm working my way through the Neapolitan novels right now and really enjoying them, although it definitely took me a while to get into the story. I'm about to finish book 3 of 4.
