As the weather gets colder I am starting to think about a new winter coat for me. It gets polar vortex cold where I live, so I am looking for something really warm. I like longer (mid-thigh or more) coats and prefer down. I'd like it to be at least a little stylish. I am willing to invest but don't have Canada Goose money.
What winter coats do you love?

I've really liked my Eddie Bauer down coat. It's mid-thigh, has a hood, and relatively cute (zips up, trimmed hood, white). I actually got it at the outlet near us for ~$120, so not too crazy expensive, but really warm.

My warmest coat is my North Face arctic parka. I can actually only wear it in the coldest temperatures (like 20 or below) otherwise I get too hot. For "normal" winter temps around here (20-40), I wear a North Face metropolis.

I bought a Peak Performance (Swedish brand) coat half off at the end of last winter. I haven't been able to test it in really cold temps yet as I got it at the tail end of winter, but the construction and details are really nice and it's supposed to be one of their warmer styles. .

I'm currently loving an Eddie Bauer parka, but they don't carry them in-store in Canada and ordering online causes the price to jump 2x - $200 --> $400.

I love my Patagonia down sweater hooded jacket. I bought it on sale last winter for under $200. They often have sales for the regular down sweater jacket without hood for around $120. It's so warm, and I cannot wait to wear it again this winter.

@yin: see I love my down sweater, but it's not a true winter coat for me! We are polar vortex cold here, and it's not warm enough. Good for late fall maybe!
