We started her in a MMO program in September when she was a little over 2. She's done great and we're going to move her from two days a week to a three day a week preschool in the fall.

I started DS right at 2 for a couple reasons:

1. Technically, I work part time, and this allowed me to get a bit more work done.
2. He needed a bit more stimulation than I could provide all the time, especially with some of my time at home devoted to work. I was a bit hesitant, but he totally LOVES it and I'm so glad we decided to start early.
3. LO2 is due in June, and I wanted preschool to be something he will love going back to in September, rather than something he has to do while baby stays home with mommy (I'm hoping this pays off…)

He will start a 2 day per week (9-12) program at 2.5

LO 2 is also due in July, and so DD is going to a 2 day/week, 3 hours/day program in September when she'll be almost 3. I know a lot of SAHPs that send their kids to some kind of program beginning at around 2 or 2 1/2.

my oldest was 3.5, (had 2 years of preschool before kinder) my twins were 4 (had one year before kinder) and my daughter was two months shy of 3 (will have two years before going to TK)

Depending on finances/circumstances, I'm hoping to start LO1 around 2 or 3!

D started preschool just after he turned 3. M will be about 3.5 when he starts.

We are starting LO hopefully in the next month or so. He's 2.5 years old.

LO1 started at 2.5. She had been asking to go for months at that point, so it was welcome for both of us

Following this thread. LO turns 2 in march and thinking preschool for fall at 2.5 or wait until closer to 3.

DD is only 19 months but we are going to be homeschool preschooling, starting around age 2. A few other SAHMs in my area do preschool homeschool group for 2-4 year olds that I will be joining. SO I guess I could say age 2 but I am not "sending her" anywhere haha.

She will start this september, 4 months after she turns 3.

DD1 is 2.5 now and I have no plans to send her to preschool anytime soon. Once kids turn 3 here, they are eligible for 15 hours/week of preschool , funded by the government, that can be done in a public or private preschool (if it's private, you pay the difference in tuition beyond what the government would have spent on a state run school). As of now, I'm not sure whether or not we'll take that up in September (DD will be 3 in June) or not. I don't want to do the full 15 hours per week as I think that is far too much. I'd be ok with one or two mornings per week for two hours at a time, and only in a play based centre, but it seems as though most places insist on an all or nothing for the 15 hours and I'm just not willing to do that at such an early age.

I voted 3.5+ in your poll as it is much more likely she will be closer to 4, if not 4, by the time she starts.

We are starting our LO in a playskool type program ran by a preschool this Fall. He will be 21 months old and it's 2 mornings a week. It's a good way to ease him into the preschool program the following Fall when he is 2.5 years old.

DS is a grandmacare/WAHM baby and we're planning on trying a couple half days a week in a few months before baby, he'll be almost 2.5 when he starts. We'll bump it up to 5 half days in the fall if the transition goes smoothly.

We will probably start around 3.5. It's just not in the budget with me not working. I'm confident in our ability to prepare him academically for kindergarten. I think pre-k is mostly important for learning social skills. So right now they go to free playgroups. Hopefully that will entertain the oldest until he is preschool age! I do think he would like it now at two. But I don't think it's necessary now and so it's just not an expenditure we can make.

I was originally WOH full-time with LO1, so she had been going to full-time daycare since 12 weeks. We moved when she was 2, and I decided to SAH. But I wanted to continue some sort of outside-the-home-care for 2-3 days a week for both of our sakes (good socialization with kids and adults, learning, stimulation, etc for her; time for me to workout, run errands, etc). I was also pregnant with LO2 and knew that LO1 having her own space/place would be good for her.

We ended up going with a true preschool for LO1. She goes 3 days a week from 830-330. It's great! She loves it, and it helped keep some consistency when her sister was born. She comes home exhausted on those days. I also really like that I have a couple days where I can pay full attention to LO2 and plan the day around her schedule...instead of her always being forced to tagalong to whatever toddler activities we are doing for the day.

We were thinking of enrolling my son in a play-based two year old program in the fall (he turns 2 at the end of July), but I'm really not so sure now - I'm thinking about waiting until he's closer to 3.
