I'm not talking about private schools where they are mandatory for some. I was talking to one of the parents that lives next door and she was saying how she wished public schools would have mandatory uniforms. She joked that it would be cheaper than constantly buying new clothes to keep up with fads.

Later I thought it wouldn't be a bad idea,, but not for her reason. I think back to all the times in middle and high school where very nice girls would get made fun of because she didn't have the latest jeans or shirts. Some very smart and nice girls got made fun of for being so poor that they wore the same outfits twice in a week sometimes.

I wonder how children in private school differ from children in public school. (not educational wise.) I wonder if children who all wear the same thing are nicer to each other because you can't make fun of the low income kid's shoes because he's wearing the same ones as you.

What do you think?
