Do you think a boy would be teased if his initials were MOM?
Name in question is Maxwell Owen McK. D thinks Owen Maxwell would be better. I could maybe be persuaded, but I like the flow of Maxwell Owen more, and I think switching it because of those initials is silly.

I like Owen Maxwell for flow better, but I don't think he'll get teased for that. Kids will always find something... But it's usually really random as to what it is.

Honestly, I don't think kids even pay attention to middle names. I know my best friends middle name but I never knew, or cared, about anyone else's!
It's a non-issue for me.

This is rarely going to come up---I work in a school, and usually only teachers see middle names on the roster. We don't call out full names when taking attendance or anything.
I do have some kids who hate their middle names and don't tell anyone. Then their friends come to me and beg to find out the middle name, but I keep mum.

I don't think anyone really notices initials, unless you get a ton of stuff monogrammed or something.

Honestly I wouldn't even consider that a reason at all to forgo a name (it's not like it's ASS) however I do like the flow of your husband's order better, Owen Maxwell rings better to me than Maxwell Owen.

I've never paid attention to people's initials so I can't really imagine getting teased for that? I much prefer Maxwell, but Owen and Evan sound great together too.

I was teased mercilessly for my middle name in elementary school, so I vote for Owen Maxwell. Nevermind that he'll probably feel a little silly if he ever wants to monogram something.

I like the flow of Owen Maxwell better, but I don't think the initials thing will be too big of an issue unless he intends on signing his name with his middle name all the time.

And I don't think kids would make fun of him for his initials, but then again, if it's not that, they'll find something else to tease him about. I don't think it's that big of a deal.

I like Owen Maxwell better, but I don't think I knew most of my friends middle names. We didn't really care and NEVER thought about initials. It probably wouldn't be a big deal.

My nickname is based entirely on my initials (Emma). That being said, I think almost no one cares about your initials, unless they spell something really "bad," like ASS or FUK. I think the initials of MOM are not a big deal at all.

@Greentea: yes. I seem to remember reading something about how initials can affect self esteem when they spell things like "HAG," so I feel it *could* be something kids made fun of and might call the boy "MOM."
I actually like Owen Maxwell better than Maxwell Owen.

I don't see this being a big deal. Even if you're in to monogramming, don't most people put the last initial in the middle (mMo)? I personally hate that monogram style, but I understand that it is traditional.

I like the name Owen, but I like Max more. D is pretty firm about not wanting MOM initials, and I'm trying to decide if he's overreacting, if I should just give in since it's so important to him 
(but I do have a trump card if I decide I feel strongly enough...)

Unless you are big on monograms, I doubt anyone will know. Unless he becomes a lawyer, then you use your initials a lot on billing and everyone would know

I think Owen Maxwell flows better. I don't think he would get teased (I don't know how kids could learn of his middle name unless he told them), but he may be embarrassed about it when he's older.

@Ra: interesting! I wonder if his initials spelled something? Or maybe he didn't have a middle name? My initials spelled a word before I got married and we had clients who would call and be like what is ____ thinking it stood for something.

I don't think the initials will be an issue. If they are, I guess there are worse things a kid could get made fun of for.
Personally, with your last name I like Owen McK better than Maxwell McK, since he'll rarely say it all together, but that's just my opinion. Or you'll have a girl and it'll be a moot point
