This is our dining table, which can seat up to 8 with the leaf. Our current dining area is pretty small, though, so we have taken the leaf out. We have chairs very similar to these, and they just haven't held up. We have only had them 4 years. We'll be buying 6 new chairs, so I would like something nice but not wildly expensive. DH isn't a fan of the chairs that "match" the table. What would you suggest?

These are not on the cheap side but maybe you could find something comparable on other sites. We have these and they are super comfortable plus I feel look very classic.

I wouldn't do upholstery except in a formal dining room because it's hard to keep clean.

If you want the upholstered "feel" you could always get cushions.

@Pancakes: What age are your LOs? Could you use a disposable mats on the chairs or get a fabric the hides stains well!

@Pancakes: I think if the upholstery is some sort of microsuede it would be really easy to clean! I have slobber city dogs and have no issues getting gunk off our suede furniture! World Market has great dining chairs that won't break the bank!

@HTownMom: they're 4 years and 6 months old. We have a fisher price booster seat instead of a high chair, but we have another chair that we can use with the booster seat.

I bought off-white nailhead upholstered chairs exactly like everyone is posting from home goods! They were $129 each and that is WAY cheaper than you could find anywhere else.

@Pancakes: I think they could totally work! Especially as @mrschickpea: mentioned if she can clean up after dogs then I'm sure you can for the kids! Also if you are using boosters then it's simple to put something under them to protect the fabric!
