Hi ladies. Looking for some reassurance or the ugly truth here.
I'm either 15 or 16 DPO today and had my first beta Monday at 4 PM which came back at 85. I went in again today at 8 AM and it only rose to 116. It was around 36 hours between tests and didn't even get close to doubling.
The nurse seemed really optimistic but I am scared. Is there any hope for this pregnancy?

There's also a website called betabase where you can enter your betas. But take everything they say with a grain of salt! There's a really wide range of normal.

Best wishes. I'm not an expert. It could just be early and not a full 48 hours. Are you Doing a third draw?

Me! With my first son, I went from 224 to 534 in 4 days (96 hours). I thought for sure I was doomed but it was ok. With my second son, it was closer, but I still never doubled in 48 hours. I know it is so hard, but it is not an exact science so try not to stress!

Wanted to post an update for you guys. My hcg rose to 500 in 5 days, with a doubling time of 56 hours. This seems low for 4+6 or 5 weeks but I'll take it for now.

@LibbyLou: just a beta. The nurse didn't sound too confident (which of course fuels my anxiety) and they want to do another draw before scheduling an ultrasound.

ETA - I did Ivf so not quite the same, but my beta at 17dpt (so at about 4 weeks 6 days) was 534. I've always had notoriously low betas...it is my firm belief that some people just have Lower betas (I guess some of us have to make up that low end of the bell curve). Very hopeful that you are the same way!!!

Another update: my hCG went up to 755 from 500 in 48 hours so not close to doubling again. I go in first thing in the morning for another draw and if the number isn't over 1,000 (and I doubt it will rise that much in just 24 hours) they will do an ultrasound because I had an ectopic in October. For whatever reason I have this nagging feeling that all will be OK but I am sure I'm going to be proven wrong.

Beta was 905. Doubling time from Monday is about 84 hours. They are doing an ultrasound at 1:40 this afternoon to hopefully rule out ectopic.

So GREAT news: there is no evidence of an ectopic pregnancy. Surpringly they were able to see a small gestational sac in my uterus. This doesn't speak to the viability of the pregnancy but after having an ectopic last month this is a huge relief.

@mrskansas: best wishes to you. I had a similar thing happen and it didn't turn out to be viable. I miscarried naturally but they never were able to see the sack though, so hopefully that bodes well for you!

@travellingbee: can I ask how high your hcg got and how quickly it was doubling? How far along were you when the miscarriage started? Sorry for all the questions I'm just trying to prepare for the worst.

@mrskansas: it's been a few years so it's all little hard to remember, but I think it got into the 800s or 900s. I was almost 7 weeks when it started. I can't remember the doubling time, unfortunately. I can try to do some searches on here after dinner to see if I can find my old information.

I had a very slow rising HCG...not doubling even in a week. However, when they did an ultrasound at 6 weeks, there was a heartbeat. Another blood draw saw my hcg only inch up. A 7 week ultrasound showed a 7 week fetus, strong heartbeat, but an extremely small sac...the baby took up almost the whole thing. I think the sac measured around 5w3d. The radiologist and my doc thought the slowly rising hcg plus the discrepancy of sac size were suggestive of an incompatible pregnancy and most likely a severe chromosomal disorder. We talked about all of my options (testing, possible termination, etc) should the fetus survive the first trimester. We didn't get that far, so no tough decisions had to be made. Our 10 week ultrasound showed no heartbeat and I had a D&C the next day.

@Tidybee: so sorry for your loss but thank you for sharing. My levels have gone from a 90 hour doubling time, to 53 hours and now back to 80 hours. If the next draw shows the same pattern I would assume my situation will be similar to yours.

Hi ladies, I wanted to update you all and anyone that may be searching this in the future. I did end up miscarrying at 6+1 last week. My levels reached a peak of 1,800 with an average doubling time of 80ish hours.
My doctor has given me the all clear to try again right away so hopefully the 3rd time is the charm for me! -
