Just as the title says. I’m nervous because at 14 DPO my hCG was 89 and today at 16 DPO it is 158. I had the blood drawn almost exactly 48 hours apart.
Doc says it’s ok, but I’ve never had it at least double It rose 77%

With E 13 DPO was 57
15 DPO was 114 and
17 DPO was 201 (my RE tests until 1000) so not doubling btwn beta 2 and 3 drawn exactly 48 hrs apart and even after that continued to be a slow rise. I had 5 betas drawn in total.

Just wanted to say I've got every crossed for you that this is your sticky little one

I am so sorry the beta wasn't higher and you are still in limbo. 77 is not bad at all. I'm sure your next beta will be more encouraging. Remember, in early pregnancy, it is absolutely normal for numbers to double every 48 - 72 hours for a viable pregnancy.
To respond to your question: Yes, it happened to my best friend when she was pregnant with my godson. (*I believe I may have mentioned it on the POAS board before when someone else asked a similar query, so I will save you ALL of the details. ) She gave birth to him at 42 weeks. He was nearly 10 lbs and the epitome of health ... just a bit slow [on a cellular level ] early on.
Try not to stress (* I know, I know, easier said than done. 🤔) and things will work out.

I’ve heard 66% many times as the number and so so hope that your next one is more reassuring! I know how nerve wracking it must be.

@LAZB: I also had a HCG beta scare and the "doubling" rule is not as finite as we are led to believe (my OB basically told me I was going to miscarry and she was giving me wrong info). Don't get too caught up in the numbers!! Dates could be a little off, it's truly not a perfect science

My OB firmly stuck to the 66% in 2 days / doubling by THREE days guideline.

This might help you feel better! (Hopefully!) The betabase number for both 14dpo and 16dpo looks good with those numbers: http://www.betabase.info/chart/basic/single

@snarkybiochemist: that makes me feel better!
@MamaBear87: thanks so much ️
@Kaohinani: I’m so glad to hear that story too!
@bhbee: I’ve heard that too, but I’ve only seen success with doubling in 48 hours. Hopefully I just haven’t noticed all these stories before
@pachamama: I’m going to keep that in mind!
@DesertDreams88: that’s very reassuring
@foodiebee: the range is so big, isn’t it?

So your doubling time is 58 hours instead of 48 hours—I went to beta base. I understand completely why this worries you, but I think it’s still WELL within normal. My OB also went by the 3-day or 72-hour double, like @DesertDreams88: ‘s OB. I think your next one will indicate better which way it’s going and how about this: if it was me and the pregnancy was unintended, i would be scared shitless.

I agree with @LCTBQE that you won’t know what’s happening until you get that next data point. So don’t freak out yet!

@LAZB: it’s supposed to rise by 60% in 48 hours, which would be 142.4.... So, I think you’re baby is doing just fine!!

Me! With my first I only had a 70-something percent rise and I thought for sure it was over, but here he is! My second never fully doubled either, although he was closer (like 85% or so). I also always have pretty low hcg numbers. Fingers crossed you get good news!

@Petitduck: very true. I’m not even peeing on any more tests if you can believe it!
@CatchAFallingStar: thanks! I sure hope so
@bloved: awesome, thanks for sharing, this makes me feel better!

@LAZB: hoping for the best for you! I never had hcg levels drawn so I can’t speak to that.

Thanks y’all! I’m still nervous of course, but these numbers made me feel better. I’m scheduled for my first ultrasound at 6+2, not sure how I’m going to be able to wait, I’m so nervous with my recent history

Congratulations! I'm also keeping everything crossed for you and your little bean. I know how hard these times are when you don't know what's going to happen.

@LAZB: ah! Excellent news!!! So happy for you. Fingers crossed your ultrasound goes well.

Yay!!! My RE only looked for 60% increase as being normal. Keeping everything crossed for you!
