What age did your LO get really into their play kitchen? My daughter's birthday is right after Christmas, so big gift opportunities essentially come once a year. She's almost a year old and my mom really wants to get her a kitchen (probably the PB kitchen) for Christmas or her birthday. My mom says she will want it before next year (when she will be almost 2). I would prefer to wait until next year so I don't have to store it until she wants it (we have a really small house, so the kitchen will have to go in our living room). What do you think - is next year too late?

For us, the time when my son was really into the kitchen was between around 15 months and 2 years. He hasn't really played with the kitchen in the past year we've had it, although he uses it as a storage closet for his trains.

I would ask her to wait until she was 18 months then buy her the kitchen. Your DD is so young she wont have any idea that her xmas/bday gift was late =)

She's 17 months now and she uses it a lot. I think for this age, it's nice to have something at her level she can play with while standing. It has lots of doors and cubbies to put things into and take things out of. We also see her copying us a little bit by stirring things in her pot on the stove. I'm sure she will use it more and more as she gets older. We got it when she turned 1 and she played with it then, if nothing else just to bang things on it.

We gave A a basic wooden play kitchen and utensil set for her first birthday and she loves it! I don't think she really identifies it as a kitchen but she enjoys it none the less

I would. She got it for her first birthday and she would play with it some but not a ton till she was at least 16m? When I got her more play food is when she really started playing with it.

We just were at a friends house and they have a play kitchen. LO is 12.5 months and he was super in to it!

I think it just depends on the kid. DS has been into kitchen play (first the FisherPrice Laugh and Learn Kitchen and then the big standalone kitchen) since 9 months old. He plays with the kitchen daily, at 19 months. DD has never been super into kitchen play, but I would say 18-30 months was the big time for her.
Can you try out a play kitchen like in a store (or some libraries have kitchens in their play area) and see if he's interested now?

We gave B a kitchen for his first birthday. He loves it.

M got one for her first birthday and she's having fun with it. She doesn't do "make believe" type things with it, but she enjoys standing at the counter and opening and closing things.

Hmm, pretty early. 16 months maybe. She's had more and more fun with it the older and more developed she's gotten. She's 26 months and now just really getting into imaginative play, so she's been even more into it lately.

We bought a play kithen for LO's first birthday, and he started playing with it right away. He played with it daily until 20 months or so (when his train obsession started). At 2.5 years old he is back in his kitchen, and I love seeing his imagination run wild. He likes to pretend to be like mommy in his kitchen.
