I read that he was a diva on set and that's why they did this. He was suspended at the beginning of this season, for a few episodes, when he was in D.C. I thought I read that he signed another contract, but I guess that's wrong!
Now the show is going to be really lame! -
@chopsuey: I had a feeling it was coming. But I balled my eyes out. Good thing DH missed his flight and wasn't home.
They said in the last episode that he wanted to start TTC and then they had sex so her getting pregnant could happen. But I think she puked cause she was upset.

I'm actually so glad he left the show like this rather than just staying in Washington or something like that. It was definitely sad though!
He is big into racing cars now, so I figured he'd be out the door soon enough.

West coast just saw it.
Stupid Grey's FB page gave it away that he is dead before I could even watch it.
I can't believe they killed him.
She did unplug him pretty quickly. Why didn't she call Derek's sister or his family before pulling the plug. They probably would have wanted to say goodbye.
Oh, the thought of Meredith being pregnant did pop in my mind but I could also see her throwing up because she was upset.
First Derek saves those people and 30 minutes later he gets hit by a tractor trailer? We saw no cars while he was saving everyone else but then he gets hit by a truck? Couldn't he have reached for his cellphone while still parked and not while he was in the middle of the road?

I feel like killing Derek was just a cheap shot. "We need some drama! Kill Derek!" Meh. First Christina, now Derek. I'm not loving the direction of the show. At least with Christina, Sandra Oh wanted to leave. Patrick Dempsey had just signed a two year contract extension. I almost feel like Grey's has jumped the shark at this point.

This season was not good for pregnant ladies! First there were all of those worst case pregnancy scenarios with Arizona and Gina Davis's character and now this!!!!

Meredith has had a really rough freaking life! Lost her mom, dad, sister, one BFF, 2 moved away forever and now her husband?! If I were her, I would not be able to continue on. Seriously. It's crazy.

Heard Shonda and Dempsey had drama on set, hence the kill-off.
I thought the episode was fairly ridiculous. Meredith's reaction to her husband's death was relatively cold and unbelievable. But I freely admit I cant stand Mer. I did tear up at the end during their relationship montage, and wailed to my husband to never leave me. This show jumped the shark a few years ago, but I have to see it through. Ugh.

Ugh, I just watched. What a super crappy way to go. He couldn't speak to tell them to do the CT so then he dies. WTF? Killing off a character is ok. Killing them off Ina crappy way just sucks.
