I’m trying to figure out if there’s something going on at my house or somewhere we frequently go or if this is some new way of life. Between the ages of 8 and 21 I didn’t have a single stomach bug and was sans vomit (except for a few non-illness induced times in college). Since my daughter was born 4 years ago when I was 25 I have gotten stomach bugs every year. This year I am on bug #2 (it has been 4 days and I haven’t had anything ugly come out but can’t eat and have a fever and chills), and also had a really bad case of food poisoning.

Both my kids go to daycare a few times a week so are exposed to everything. We keep our house pretty clean but it’s not spotless like mine was growing up (thanks to having an ICU nurse for a Mom). My dad had a stomach bug once when I was growing up, and my mom had food poisoning once and some bad GI issues likely due to undiagnosed Celiac. My in-laws don’t necessarily practice the best food safety, but I avoid eating anything I know has been prepared unsafely and am confident this isn’t a food safety issue UNLESS it’s listeria. I washed and bleached the hell out of my fridge this morning.

Is this just the temporary new normal for a WOH Mom with kids who are in daycare? If this happened to your family when did you outgrow it?
