My LO has both an angel kiss and stork bite. He seems to be bothered by the stork bite and is constantly scratching the back of his head. We use Cortizone when it's inflamed, Neosporin when it becomes a scratched sore mess, and Aveeno Excema strength lotion in between to try to soothe and prevent scratching. What else? I never imagined a birthmark could be so problematic. Any suggestions?

Huh, both of my los had those, and my 15 month old still does on the back of his neck but they've never scratched them before. I find aveeno works for them for skin rashes and soothing usually so that would be my recommend....

Yeah, me too with the Huh, My LO still has her angels kiss or whatever its called at 2 years now and its never bothered her in the slightest. Where is it on him? Does it look atypical?

@Littlebit7: his stork bite is on the nape of his neck.
His pediatricians have described the angel kiss, between his brows, and stork bites as birthmarks. Yet, we are having to treat the stork bite one/ neck one because he claws it. It's getting worse. Right now it's sratchy and scabby. We don't go back to see the doctor until his 1 year appointment in a couple of months so thought I'd ask you guys.

DD2 has a large-ish stork bite on the back of her neck and we've started using Eucerin in a tub and it's helped soothe it (and all of her eczema as well!)

Cerave is my favorite lotion for soothing skin, so I would try that. But I was also under the impression that birth marks should not cause symptoms, so maybe consider taking him to a pediatric dermatologist just to be safe.

Both of my LOs have stork bites and angel kisses and they have acted as regular birthmarks and never been fussed with. I think you may be dealing with a separate skin issue.

DS had a stork bite that never bothered him but he did occasionally scratch the back of his neck (not the storkbite) and I found that it was from some of the tagless labels on his shirts that were peeling and making him itchy. So maybe check his shirts?

I don't know that you need to see a dermatologist, but I would bring him to the pend sooner because it is not typical for a stork bite to itch or to have a rash associated with it.

My older son has a red mark at the back of the neck. When he was younger (maybe 2), he itched it so much it bled and eventually got infected. He went on a quick round of antibiotics and it cleared up.
I would put aquafor or Neosporin on it.
