Now that it's summer, DS has been wearing sunscreen pretty much every day, either for outdoor time at daycare or when we go to the park/pool on the weekends. I've noticed in the last week that it's making his skin really dry and flaky. Any recommendations for a sunscreen that's also moisturizing? We've been using Thinkbaby at daycare and Neutrogena Free & Clear at home, and I think the Thinkbaby is mostly the culprit. His skin is not particularly sensitive, just prone to dryness.

DS uses Babyganics spray at daycare and go comes home all greasy. Not sure if that's the effect you're going for

@elljay: I have been wondering the same thing about thinkbaby- or rather thinksport, the water resistant one. My 1.5 year old does have really sensistive skin and it seems like the spots that get the most sunscreen are worst.

My DD has very sensitive skin also, and after trying neutrogena, California baby, and honest company, finally the honest company sunscreen affected her the least. I still make sure to bath her at night if she had sunscreen on during the day.

My kiddos both have dry sensitive skin, and Blue Lizard is my go-to! I also like BurnOut, but prefer Blue Lizard because it is easier to apply.

I was also going to say vanicream, like PP. That's what I use too, due to my very sensitive skin/allergies. It works very well for sun protection.

I would try cerave or we've been using the Alba Very Emollient kids and really love it. It's definitely on the greasier side but that's why I like it. It's moisturizing and really easy to spread.
ETA I do have a mom friend who swears by the Vanicream as well. Her son has extremely sensitive and dry skin. I've just never actually used it myself.

LO has dry skin some has excema. I am using Nuetrogena spray and a stick for his face and like it..

Hmmm I love think baby and was going to recommend that. I put coconut oil on first then once thats absorbed I do the sunscreen.

Thanks for all the recos! Amazon had Blue Lizard and Cerave with free one-day shipping, so trying those first. Luckily my husband uses mineral sunscreen also, so anything that doesn't work for DS will go to him.

@Mrs.Pinecone316: so you put a layer of coconut oil and then another layer of sunscreen? Does it take you a full hour to get out the door? I feel like just getting one layer on is a battle.

We discovered CeraVe baby this year and I'm loving it for my boys who have sensitive eczema prone skin. I should say that I love CeraVe products in general for myself and my kids.

@Canoli: Yes, cerave for my skin was where I first started loving the brand. I don't have ongoing issues/problem skin, but I had super dry skin this winter that resulted in a full body rash (my dermatologist also said it was flared by stress). Anyway, she told me specifically to use it and don't bother with anything else. And told me to forever moisturize with it right after a shower.
At night I use the heavy duty cream in a tub but for daytime I use the lotion in a pump right after the shower and my skin has seriously never been better. And even if I still want to use something pretty, I do a layer of cerave and then the nice smelling one on top.
Now also using cerave bar soap and lotion for all of us and I'm starting to switch to their face wash as well. And I use their eye cream.
