I'm wondering how everyone feels about Tamiflu. My son tested positive for the flu yesterday, he had the test about three hours after the symptoms started.

The pediatrician offered Tamiflu, with the caveat that it wasn't "her favorite medicine" due to the side-effects of nausea and vomiting.

I opted not to give it to my son because all the research I had done says it only lessons the flu by 1 to 1.5 days and I personally don't believe that the pros outweigh the cons of giving a powerful antiviral to an otherwise healthy child. However, I feel like this is a VERY popular drug, even with people I know that are otherwise cautious with vaccines, OTC meds, and antibiotic use.

Just wanted to have a discussion about opinions on this. Would or wouldn't you give it to your child? And why or why not?

BONUS Question: Would you take it yourself? And if this differs from your choice for your child. (ie if your answer is: I would not give it to my child but I would take it myself...)
