I'm buying a bunch of GCs from target for daycare gifts.
Does target run promos around the holidays for gift card purchases?
Any other way to save some money on target GCs?
I checked and they don't have it at BJs. I applied for a red card yesterday but not sure when I will get a response. Does the 5% apply to GC purchase too?

@regberadaisy: they had 10% off GC last year but I cant remember if it was for BF or when they did it - I am guessing they aren't doing it this year

They did a promo last year for 10% off but it was around Black Friday- I just checked and I purchased mine on November 28.

They did have some sort of discount on them on black friday- i remember looking at them and thinking i should buy some of those- but then totally forgot.

@regberadaisy: Do you get fuel points from your grocery store? You could purchase there and use the extra fuel points.

You could try a gift card buying/selling website. Cardpool and Raise.com have cards for 3-3.5% off.

I've seen Amazon doing $5 off $25 GCs for certain vendors for the Lightning Deals.

@regberadaisy: Do you by chance live in a state with a Kroger grocery store? If so...giftcards get you 4x Fuel Points with your Kroger frequent shopper number...which can get you lots off your gas!

@regberadaisy: I go to customer service to get like $0.05 back sometimes b/c a cartwheel didn't scan, hahaha.
I also just realized they price match themselves online!

Can you think of a reason why it wouldn't work to use the discounted Target cards to buy other gift cards sold at Target (I'm thinking Disney!)?

@Pancakes: ah! Good idea! It would work! Last year I bought $200 online and got the 10% discount and then I went in the store and bought smaller domination Target gift cards for gifts and used the original Target gift card to pay!

@Pancakes: You would have to go back a different day (the article says you purchase on 12/20 and can use on 12/21), and you wouldn't be able to buy cards with a fee (like Visa, MasterCard, etc.). But I don't see why it wouldn't work to buy non-fee cards like Disney. Good idea!
