LO gets one song before every nap and bed time. We don't do kid songs, mostly because they are short and also we don't really know any lol. We switch it up a bit but the one I sing most often is The Way I Am (ingrid michaelson, not eminem..)

No LO yet, but I know what I used as a nanny so I'm sure it'll be the same. Edelweiss is the big one, and Raindrops on Roses (slower than usual). My mom sang me those a lot when I was little. Oh My Darlin was a common one too, just more slowly than normal as well. It's long so it kept me going through better when a baby was really fighting sleep and I was getting frustrated. Close to Christmas I'd usually go with What Child is This or something like that, just for variety.

After a medley of songs from Sound of Music and Disney movies over the first year of DDs life, we have settled on Stay Awake from Mary Poppins. I think I will try to learn some new ones for our next child so that he or she can have one of their own!

Mommy's song is "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" and Dada's song is Billy Joel's "Lullaby (Goodnight My Angel)". Our two year old daughter can sing along to both songs and will correct us if we try to change the words to be silly sometimes. We haven't yet decided whether our son will have his own songs, but he's only two months old and usually is in the room when we're singing to big sis right now.

It is the only song I'm allowed to sing and nobody else is allowed to sing Mommy's song. Grandma and DH have their own lineup.

Lately this is our order:

Silent Night (started in Dec and she asks every night)

It is so cute now that she is starting to sing with me. The annoying thing is I can't skip any or she asks for it. DH doesn't sing to her and she is fine with that.

alll the verses of I've been working on the railroad and some of the verses of you are my sunshine. Sometimes he asks us to sing him songs about weird things, like easter eggs or candy canes. So we make those up.

Too Ra Loo Ra Loo Ral (that sounds made up, but it's not.! It's an Irish lullaby <- Which is actually the alternative name and the last line, haha.) My mom sang it to me, her dad sang it to her, etc.

It's a pretty long song so usually that's enough. If it's not I either do When You Wish Upon A Star, Never Grow Up (although I usually start crying about 3/4 of the way through) or Everything Has Changed. Second two are by Taylor Swift.

I love seeing these lists! Lots of new ideas to freshen up our bedtime routines.

At bedtime each of my two girls has a song incorporating their names I sing to them (DD1has made me edit the parts of hers that say baby to say big girl). DH sings "You are My Sunshine." DD1 now complains if I sing that or if DH sings it to DD2 though, so we need to get him a new song for DD2

@mrbee: I never thought of singing LOVE as ax lullaby - that's a great one! We might have to try that as DD2's daddy song.

@Mrs. Tiger: ha! Not quite as rambunctious but DD1 has been singing the Daniel Tiger theme to herself recently.

I must be the only one who's LO wants to hear Christmas songs. He asks me to sing Jingle bells alllllll the time. Lol
