What's your experience? We had T's tongue clipped yesterday. Today I went to a breastfeeding support group at a hospital and the LCs said to see our ped ASAP. So now he has thrush. He's not eating well-it hurts-and he's so crabby. When did your LO start to feel better? We're on bottles because he's struggling so much

When we had thrush LO was markedly better in 24 hours. It took a few days for it to stop hurting ME though.

@Truth Bombs: oh good! 24 hours sounds great. It actually hasn't really bothered me yet. I think it's early stages. Our ped just advised that I put some lotrimin on it

@blackbird: No advice, but sorry you're having such a rough experience. How did the LC know about the thrush?

@blackbird: thrush sucks and it took months to get rid of ours! We also had ties but I'm not sure that the thrush was related although perhaps it's something to do with the way the milk pools in the mouth?

@SeptMomma12: I went for help with his latch and they looked in his mouth to check his clipped tie and said it looked yeasty.

I think he had thrush from me (i've been on APNO cream) and the clip was just a fresh and warm place for it to fester
The LC said we caught it really early, though, because I don't have any pain or itching yet. Just he has problems. Poor guy

If anything, the APNO should prevent thrush from thriving because it contains an anti-fungal. Have you looked at Jack Newman's website? He has a "Candida Protocol" to help treat thrush.
