Does anyone else with a toddler have a child that doesn't nap and won't go to sleep at night!? I have NO idea how my DS a. doesn't nap b. gets up at/around 7a c. doesn't get exhausted
BECAUSE I AM EXHAUSTED! We can't get him to stay in his bed at night. Usually he FINALLY falls asleep around 10 after we let him sleep in our bed or caves in. It is a drain and I'm hoping a phase!

We are going through some sleep problems with our 27 month old. He's requesting all sorts of help to fall asleep: hold his hand, rub his hair, fix his blanket a certain way. And after all that we have MOTN WAKINGS and he's up for the day as early as 4:30 but usually between 5 and 5:30. He was never a stellar sleeper but we had turned a corner and he was sleeping through well. It's either the 2yr regression or the arrival of his baby brother or both. The newborn is sleeping better! Yikes! Hope things turn around for you soon.

I am feeling the same! Like HOW are you not tired kid? DS is wound for sound until at least 9 (and probably later) but we aim to put him to bed at 9, and have to lay next to his toddler-bed so he stays put.
Pretty much every night by 11 he comes to our bed. And then is up BRIGHT and early between 4:30 and 5:30!
He does usually take a 2-3 hour nap for us though, again we have to lay next to his bed to keep him put.
He was a good sleeper up until 18 months, we're one month in. This weekend planning to keep putting him back in his own bed vs letting him sleep with us... could be a LONG few nights.
So no advice but I commiserate. I get very envious of my friends with toddlers who actually get TIRED at 7 pm!

J has never been a sleeper. He started giving up naps shortly after he turned one and never slept on a newborn schedule since the day he was born.
He's a preschooler now (4.5), but he regularly sleeps around 10:30/11pm (if my husband is home, he'll stay up later) and wakes around 7:30/8am. No nap.
We've never had a before 9pm bedtime or after 8:30am wakeup. Like, ever.
I know how he gets it from, too. I'm not a sleeper either. I stay up late and no matter what, always get up early.
The only thing that gets J really sleepy is if he has a full day of fresh air. Like if we go to the beach. Or play outside all afternoon. If we're active outdoors for more than 4 hours, I can sometimes get a nap from him. It's a unicorn though!

Lately yeah. I feel like it's prob 18 mo sleep regression or something. DD already has low sleep needs (10 hrs max at night), and she has been taking much longer to fall asleep than usual and will wake up at 6am no matter what time she sleeps.

Ughhhh my 3.5 year old has gone from a rock solid 7pm-7am sleeper with a 2 hour daily nap to suddenly not falling asleep until 8 or 8:30, getting up for the day no later than 6:30, and taking crappy short naps.
He is also starting to wake up usually once a night, and needing me to go in and "fix something" - his blanket, sippy cup of water, telling me he is sick, etc.
I know that's not nearly as bad as some, but this is a kid who slept through the night from 7 weeks old onward. WTF. It has been a rough adjustment for both of us. He is completely wiped out at like 11 am but just will not nap for very long and fights bedtime so hard.
I personally am going to cherish the sleeping in teenage years.
