A close friend's lo is turning one soon and she has been so helpful and generous as we had our baby so I want to do something really nice for his birthday. She loves personalized and etsy type things but I am drawing a blank. Dinosaurs are a big hit with them. Budget isn't really an issue, probably $50-$75 but I am flexible either way. Any ideas?

Is he walking yet? What if you got him a hand-made dinosaur outfit? My nephew has something like this, and he loves to stomp around pretending he's a dinosaur, but he's a little bit older (he'll be two this month): http://etsy.me/1DGPRdX.
I'd maybe get something like that for his birthday, then give her a little something for herself, if she's been super helpful - like, a gift certificate for a mani/pedi or massage while you watch her little one.

@raspberries: That is adorable! He isn't walking yet but I don't mind buying it a smidge big for him. I like the idea of a gift card for her but she is the worst at using them even with free childcare! I might get her a gift too though.

Hmm, not very expensive, but a friend got my LO personalized melamine dinner plates for her 1st birthday and I love them. My LO uses them everyday and I always think of my friend. I think she got them via Etsy. I recently saw personalized photo plates via Shutterfly for $18 (and right now I think they have an additional 30% off). I don't remember if Shutterfly had any dino themed ones, but I'm sure you could find it on Etsy.
Also maybe a personalized lunch box? I found some dino ones at LillianVernon... http://www.lillianvernon.com/search.do?query=dinosaur. I didn't look anywhere else, but maybe also check Lands End or PBK if you like that idea.

It's not personalized, but I got my nephew a 3-month subscription to Citrus Lane boxes. He loved the toys he got and my siste loved the supplies that were in the boxes (he got a really cool little plate and bowl set).

The personalized plate idea is cute!! A bottle of champagne with a tag saying (to the effect of) "Happy 1st Year of Motherhood" would be fun for your friend! Assuming she likes champagne
