With a big kid and a baby it's been a long time since I was last able to devote time to a surprise or gift or something to make my husband feel special like I used to love to do. 
We are in a rut and need a real date night but that's not happening with a (still) terribly sleeping 11 month old and one kid or the other that's constantly sick. Anyone have any fun at-home v-day date ideas or plans for after work/evening? Help me plan something to convince my poor neglected husband that I haven't forgotten about him!

Not sure if its in your area but I booked an in home couples massage with Soothe for my husband's birthday which was really nice and special. Throw in a home cooked meal (steaks or something else fancy), wine, and maybe a bath or a movie?

A SUPER nice home-cooked meal. But go all out! Three course meal, champagne or wine. Candles on the table, the whole nine! Seems silly but DH did this for me after we had DS and I was super grateful for it!

We make heart shaped pizza every year. It's kind of silly maybe, but it's fun to have a tradition. My DH loves all the fun holiday candy like heart shaped Reese's and Snickers so I will get him a few of those. His love language is words of affirmation so I always try to write a heartfelt message in a card, even if it's just a line or two.

I will shower and wash my hair and look like a human being haha! With an 8 week old then, I was hoping to take the baby with us for a lunch date but she is fussy from wake up till afternoon! I haven't even pumped so don't really want to leave her with anyone.
Maybe I'll sneak out to grab stuff to make a meat/cheese board with wine for after bedtime!

I am planning to make something special to eat for DH and me after the kiddos go to bed (either dinner or canapes or something- I need to hit up Pinterest for ideas!). I'll probably get a special bottle of bourbon or scotch as his gift and use that to make an interesting cocktail.

We do a family dinner for Valentine's Day, but many of my friends give the kiddos an early dinner and get them to bed a little early ... then they have a romantic dinner at home. Frankly, I think my husband would really like dinner, movie, cuddling and "adult time".
We aren't big on gifts though.

Some favorite meal of my husband's, an ice cream related dessert, a homemade card featuring the kids (like a footprint or handprint and scribbles) and a heartfelt message would probably be our thing.

I did lingerie for the first time last year! Nice thing is, it requires no planning and you don't even need a babysitter. Honestly, he was so super excited that it is basically the only gift I will get him for vday going forward. If we go to dinner or make food or drink I end up falling asleep immediately afterwards haha. So that's no good.

Um, my husband asked if we were doing anything for VD. I looked at him like he was crazy.
Turns out we have childcare Saturday night so we will probably go out for dinner then.

My husband's birthday is the day after, so I always try to do some kind of extra thing. This year, we are going to take off the 15th from work and have a day long "day date" while the kids are at school/with the nanny. So we aren't paying extra but have a lot of time together.
I need to firm up a plan with DH, but right now our plans are brunch out, a day of fun in the city (I wish we could go to the spa, but that's not in the budget right now), and happy hour/early dinner before we come home. Maybe we'll squeeze in a movie.
