What are you giving your 5 year old for their birthday this year? Or what did you give them?
We are giving our LO a trip as her main gift and then she is getting a few little things like a new art pad and markers, a superhero doll and a "trip kit" that will be a bag full of things she can use during our car rides.

My husband bought him the old school nintendo. I didn't really have a say in the matter....he was adamant about it. So, I guess that's what he is getting!

He hasn't had his birthday yet but I bought him the Hot Wheels ultimate garage when it was super on sale after Christmas. I'm pretty sure he will like it for at least a day!

@skipra: We bought this for our son's 4th bday! He loves it and still plays with it 6 months later! 
It's huge and takes up a lot of space, but it's a lot of fun and a great way to keep all of his cars organized.

I think DD got a party for her 5th. 
We bought her (another) AG doll for her 6th + she had an awesome unicorn themed party with her buddies.

Two small lego sets I got on clearance around Christmas. He was spoiled by friends and family, plus he got a new bike for Christmas. We felt that he really didn't need much.

My niece got a new bike and a "spa" day (basically a great aunt did the nails and hair of her plus three cousins) and they went to see the new Beauty and the Beast movie all dressed up in their princess outfits.
It was her own idea and she loved it so much it was adorable.
I sent her a crocheted unicorn hat. I think her parents like it more than she does, lol!

We took a trip to the mall of America to go to nickelodeon universe! He loved it and asks to go back all the time.

LO asked for a Melissa and Doug ice cream set, and that's what he got! It didn't even require me to go to the store because I had scored it for a good price and was stashed in my gift pile. I also bought him a book to go along with the set. We keep presents low key since he gets so many from family and friends.

Micro maxi scooter. 2yo got a scooter too (close bdays) which was part of motivation but she loves it and I find it much easier than her bike where she needs more help.

Mine turned 5 today 
her present was a my little pony runway toy, which she had been eyeing off for ages. she had a big 5th birthday bash yesterday with all her cousins and friends, and she also got a hatchimal from her uncle, and some toys including puzzles, a tea set, lego and some clothes.
we are taking her to TGI Friday's for dinner tonight, which is becoming a tradition (I also have a 2 for 1 offer so bonus for us!)

A party at one of those inflatable jumping places and a "big kid" bike with training wheels! I think maybe one or two little things too that she could unwrap but those were the exciting ones.

For some reason, I associate turning 5 as a big birthday. This will be the first year she'll have a party with friends We're having it at an indoor play space. It comes with food and decorations, so it's really parent-friendly
On her actual birthday, we're spending 2 nights at her favorite waterpark and I also scored a deal on a retired Lego set (the character shares her name).
@mediagirl: She totally forgot about that ice cream truck. Thank goodness! Haha.
Eta: She's younger than the recommended age, but she's pretty good with Legos and we like helping her out.

We did a party and then got her a couple smaller gifts -- an analog watch, some books, and a fishing pole. She had been asking for that since we moved closer to the lakes!
Other things on her list: roller blades, stomp rocket, a basketball, running shorts, yoga pants.

DS1 got a Razor 4 wheeler (electric) and a new scooter. We didn't do a party because he wouldn't have been able to handle it this year (I'm hoping for one for his sixth birthday).

My DD will be getting a party, a fishing pole, and a baby brother. The first two things are in high demand and she seems fairly excited about the brother too
