I bought a Tyme curling iron and returned it because I could not figure it out for the life of me.
I'd really love to achieve beachy waves for the summer, but I'm so bad at curling my hair.

Following as well! I'm looking for that beachy wave look and right now, I'm using my straightening iron to achieve it!

i use my hot tools ceramic tourmaline to "fix" my natural curls and loosen them a little. It takes me between 5-10 minutes to do my hair this way
I also have a Milano clipless wand for beachy waves (once my hair is blowdried straight). I find it MUCH more difficult to use (you wear a glove so you don't burn yourself) but I think if I committed to practicing it would work well.

I have a cheapy curling wand that I got at target that I LOVE. I get such better curls than with a regular curling iron.
@lioneyes: they do take practice but are so easy once you get the hang of it. After about 4-5 times I didn't even need the glove anymore.
