So...I have two pumps both PISA. I am nearly done pumping (like 2 days left)....I know I could recycle with Medela but it seems somewhat wasteful.
I know the pumps are supposed to be single user but I cant help but think there may be some local moms who would like 1) my pump as a second pump for work and cant justify spending for one and 2) maybe dont have access to a pump through healthcare.
Is it weird/wrong to post them for free on a Mom2Mom facebook group?

I see them posted on our local moms group all the time! My best friend is currently borrowing my PISA until she's done. It doesn't hurt to put it out there, I wish I had gotten a second one when I was schlepping mine between work and home!

I gave my friend my PISA so she can have one at home and one at work. Hopefully I can get a new one from insurance this time!

I plan on recycling/trashing mine. I have two (one from insurance, one from a friend) that stopped working after 9 months of daily usage and I'm planning to get another one from insurance in November once I am eligible.

Modela had a donation program on their website! They even give you a free shipping label.

@tlcbaby: I think they just recycle it...like take it apart and recycle the plastic pieces...
I went to their website hoping to find that they like sanitize/refurb and then donate to women in need. But all I found was the recycle stuff...

I brought it to a swap event with my local moms group and someone took it. I had a hygeia pump, which can be used by a second person with new tubing.

A friend of mine posted recently about donating used pumps to Ronald McDonald Houses. Moms staying there with babies in the NICU or sick babies can used them. Maybe contact your nearest RMH?

When all is said and done I'm going to wind up with three. I'm leaving the third new in box to donate or sell, one I'll probably give to a friend and the other I'll likely sell for a few dollars on a swap page. One of them is currently making the rounds with friends who have had broken pumps or didn't get one through insurance. It's been nice being able to offer it up so I'll probably just pass it on as long as it's working since that one was given to me.

@littlebug: I contacted a local womans shelter and got a negative response (single user pump...blah blah blah.) - although I have to say I do not think this shelter is the best as they turned down a sleeve of diapers (i.e. still sealed in plastic - just not in the box) bc it wasnt in the box still - my head exploded...

@Mrs D: another option could be to reach out on a swap page and ask if anyone locally knows a person in need. You'd clearly need to just take their word for it but it's option.

I did the Medela recycle thing. It's super easy. Just take it apart and send the requested parts with a prepaid label. It took about a week to get a confirmation on it.

I gave mine to a work friend so that she would have 2. I often see people trying to sell them, which makes no sense since they are free through insurance.

I honestly want to burn mine. I am down to my last few pumps (have been pumping 1x a day for a week, pumping for shorter and shorter times).
I want to burn it and film the burning for posterity. If I were to burn it in a metal trash can or something, is there anything that could go wrong? I mean, with the battery, etc? Should I remove the battery first?

I gave mine to our homeless shelter, they were so appreciative of it, said no one things to donate them and they need them.

I kept mine for the next kid, but after that I will give it away on Buy Nothing or donate to a shelter or other org. I don't feel weird about reusing. I have two pumps, one that I acquired via someone on Buy Nothing, that I used to keep one at work and one at home.

Local pregnancy care clinic in town is where I plan to take mine when I am done. I know they accept them.
