I have two friends that are about to have baby#2 (both are having the opposite sex this time around). i want to send them gifts, but i can't really decide what would be a good gift for #2 (like what would you not already have or what would you want more of)? Any ideas? I'd prefer to buy something other than clothes, but if that's what you guys say they'd need most, i'm happy to do so!
What would you have wanted most as a gift when LO#2 was born?

I did a gigantic diaper cake for my friend who recently had #2. I knew the kind of diapers she likes and I knew they'd get used!

Are they going from a Girl to a boy or other way?
I've got a girl and have started looking at what we would need if #2 is a boy.
We have a lot of newborn and 0-3 month clothes that are Gender neutral but for a boy we would need larger stuff.
All of her sun stuff (hats, swim diapers, floats) are all pink so we will need some boy versions of that.
Maybe some more "boy toys" for older ages like Plan trucks, wooden trains, wooden blocks etc that she wasn't really interested in. Even maybe some more boyish books

@Dandelion: New A+A blankets are key, we had one pack of 4 that are gender neutral but we also got another pack of 4 that are girly. If we have a boy I want another set of boy ones.
@Mrs. Jump Rope: Agree bottles, wash cloths, and towels are also great. Especially the larger toddler towels.

I got a ton of hand me downs so clothes weren't a priority for me but I did buy new receiving blankets, bibs/hats and towels/wash cloths in girl colors. I also bought an Ergo so I could have my hands free.

I bought a dresser, changing pad, crib, crib mattress, wipe warmer, newborn diaper covers, more cloth wipes, a few newborn outfits, pumping bags, cloth diaper pail liners, crib sheet, Tommee Tippee bottles, changing pad cover, double stroller, infant adapter for my BOB stroller, hooded towels, drawer organizers and a Rock n Play.
AA blankets would be nice!

I think gift cards are the way to go so that you can ensure that you don't buy anything that they already have and they can get what they really think they need.

@BlueWolverine: I like the diaper idea.
Since our 2nd LO was the opposite sex I got girly AA swaddles and burpie bibs, different sheets and clothes, of course. Are they having different season babies? Maybe a sun canopy for the stroller or something that is season appropriate for the new LO?

@T.H.O.U.: i have one friend who has a boy and is having a girl and the other who has a girl and is having a boy! i like the idea of getting some kind of toy like a wooden train for the boy! and maybe some girly books or something for the girl. i might do a small non-neutral toy and a pack of A&A swaddles 
@lamariniere: that's a good idea too! they both had winter babies and are now having spring/summer babies, so maybe something good for a small baby in the summertime?

My cousin in law recently had her second and rather than guess what she might need I just asked her. She told me she wanted a set of A&A swaddle blankets because she never splurged on them with #1.
