I put my 2 year old down for a nap today wearing his rain boots because it didn't seem like a fight worth having (they're new, never been outside). What things have you given in on lately because you couldn't think of a reason not to?

I let him watch a show in the car. He used to cry every time I said no. We usually go on like 5 minute drives so now I just let him.

Most of them, honestly. His latest thing is refusing to take his coat off when we come inside, so he just wears his coat until bedtime.

Wearing a princess nightgown out to lunch and to run errands yesterday.

My 10 month old thinks he's a toddler, apparently. He has a fit when you take something from him. Earlier today he repeatedly banged his head on the floor in a meltdown when I took my phone from him. He then grabbed two wrapped Nestle Turtles chocolates from the tin on the coffee table, and carried them around until bath time. They also went into the bath with him. I sent a picture to my mom, who thought they were plastic clownfish!!!

Doing her hair. She has curly hair that can get pretty wild but most days I don't even bother. I offer to do it and sometimes it's fine, sometimes she doesn't want to so she goes out in cute clothes with crazy hair.

My LO insists on wearing her "underwear" (a pair of pajama shorts) over her diaper all the time.

Right now, food. Or more specifically, how/where she eats food. It's been a massive battle, she's going through a rough time still adjusting to daycare... so just meh. A lot of times I end up holding her walking around the kitchen feeding her like a bird at 21 months

Most of them really.
Getting dressed lately has been a big deal, so I just send him to daycare in his pj's. Some days he is still in them when he comes home and others the teachers can get him dressed.

Most aren't worth it! MIL bought him Lightning McQueen socks and we went through a phase of crying if he couldn't wear his cars socks. So I just bought more so I don't have to do laundry every day! And tonight DH and I ate dinner on the floor in the living room while LO walked circles around us eating his dinner. As long as he's safe I try to go with what he wants. But then I get comments about spoiling him.

Many, many things!
Her new favorite thing is washing her hands. And sometimes, when she's super cranky, I will turn on the sink and let her play with the water for a while. Not ideal, but whatever.
It's not worth trying to wrestle the iPad from her sometimes. We just let her play with the lock screen, and she's totally content.
We moved to pull ups, even though we aren't potty training right now, because she wants to do it "self".
Etc, etc, etc....she exhausting

@jhd: yeah, I sometimes get those, too. But I think there's a difference between independence and spoiling. They're learning what they want right now, and I try to honor that. We have certain things that are no-go's, like holding her at the dinner table, and being gentle with the dog, but otherwise, what's the harm?

@ALV91711: oh yep! If I can't get shoes/the right shoes on her for daycare, I send them with her. They are so much better at getting her to cooperate than I am!

Basically everything. I kind of let her March to the beat of her own drum ... Jammies at school, weird shoes on at nap ... Baby doll stroller on our walk to breakfast. I feel like unless it's totally inappropriate or would hurt her, I want her to be able to do/wear the things she wants.

Most of them! Unless it's a behavior issue or going to hurt them...whatever, have at it buddy.

My son wants to go shirtless whenever we're home. I let him, because I figure when we're home, it doesn't matter what he wears or doesn't wear.

Not wanting to wear socks even though it's negative something outside. Wanting to wear Jammie's to school.
@Foodnerd81: ugh same! I swear most of the time she looks like a ragged child that no one takes care of, but she won't let me touch her hair most of the time!!

@NovBaby1112: I figure at least she is dressed way cuter than me so it's a start, right? And now with winter hats why even bother?

@NovBaby1112: oh yes the jammies to school is a big thing here. DH said she kept saying on Friday her teacher said she could. He didn't believe her and got her in Valentines Party dress I laid out. Turns out it was pajama day

@Astro Bee: My son took his bath yesterday wearing a pair of lenseless plastic glasses. "These my sunglasses! I need them for my bath!" Sure, whatever, as long as you get in the bath with them.
I may have created a monster, though, because I just told him it was nap time and he said "oh! I need my boots!" and ran to get them out of the closet.

@jhd: I don't consider it spoiling, I consider it respecting her individual preferences and independence! granted she's only two, but I've found her very agreeable and respectful of our preferences when we voice them over hers and I really think it had to do with the fact we also respect hers as often as we can.

@catomd00: yes! our LO will be two this spring. we have been offering choices for over a year now when it comes to certain things. he likes the independence. i'm working my way through parenting with love and logic and it seems like principles that will really work for our family.
