This is the big debate in our house right now. One of us thinks we should use a twin and one thinks we should use a full.
I will leave more info out because I want honest opinions.

We switched DD from crib to a full bed--mostly because we already had one though! It was good though because we didn't have issues with her falling out/needing bed rails- she pretty much sleeps in the middle of the bed!

We did a twin floor bed but will transition to a queen when we get him a real bed. we don't gave a guest room, but we would like to have a place for grandparents to stay when they visit. full is too small for guests I think.

We had a queen bed in her room already, so we just transitioned her to that this week. We are still deciding whether to get rid of the queen and buy a twin, for more space in the room (she will be sharing it with baby sister) or just keeping it since we have it and she likes it.
It is nice that she has so much room to spread out now- a2 year old in a queen is adorable! I think if you have the space a bigger bed is nice but not necessary. It's also nice when a parent has to lay down with the toddler to get them to sleep or read at night.

Twin. I just don't think kids need a bigger bed than that...they're one person. And I don't really want to have a bed that will be comfortable for more than one person as they get into their teen years, if you know what I mean... But maybe I'm overthinking it. We don't have space for a bigger bed in their rooms anyways, there wouldn't be enough space left on the room.

We are transitioning her to a queen bed...it will double as a guest room when the ILs come and we have lots of space in her room

We are in process of transitioning to a queen bed (mattress on the floor). We had a spare queen and twin and chose to go with queen so myself or DH can lie down with LO to put him to bed. And I figure for those days when he wakes early or in middle of night, I'll be happy to have the extra room to lie down with him then.

I think it depends on how big the room is. I would do a twin because I want there to be playspace in her room. And if she gets a sibling one day, we need room for a second bed in her room too. But other people might have big rooms, or have all the toys in a playroom or they might plan on converting their crib, in which case it makes sense to go bigger.

We transitioned our LO to a queen, because we already had it and because her room doubles as our guest room.
Growing up, all of us kids had double beds and I ended up keeping mine (well, at some point I got a better mattress) till I was 32 and married. And then I gave the frame, which was beautiful, to a friend and now it's in her guest room.
I think you get more mileage with bigger beds.

We did a twin bed and it still looks so big to me!
I literally slept in a twin bed until I left for college (and then at college) so it never occurred to me to get her anything else.

We did a twin because that is all we have space for. If he had his own room I might have gotten a larger bed.

Twin. We have a queen in our guest room but I think a twin is just fine until they leave the house.

We got a twin because we plan to have our 2 girls share a room when they get older.

Our rooms are smaller than average, and we went with a twin for LO. I think I would still choose a twin if we had the space for a bigger size.

We are planning to transition B to a queen. I *hated* sleeping in a twin bed as a teenager. I think most people like more room to spread out when sleeping.

We got a convertible crib that will turn into a full, but if we hadn't I would just go with a twin. I feel like you go to college and sleep on a twin, and then when you're married/living with someone even if you're in a king you still don't have more room than a twin.

We're not quite there yet but we plan to buy her a full or queen mattress for a floor bed when she is done with the crib. Partially because she rolls a lot and I think she'll be more comfortable/less likely to fall out. Mostly because I think there will be times as she gets older (when she's sick or whatever) when she wants to sleep with me and I'd rather sleep in her room with her than let her sleep in our bed. Plus it seems like it would be nice to be able to snuggle with her before bed and read a book or something rather than having to having to sit next to her bed.
And FWIW I had a queen bed for as long as I could remember (I don't know if it was my first bed but certainly the first I remember) and I had a twin when I went to college and was just fine. Teenagers are more adaptable than toddlers. At least in terms of where they'll sleep comfortably

Not there yet with my LO but I would do twin due to space and also bc I don't want him to get used to big beds and unable to sleep in a twin! College dorms and camps always have small beds and don't want to set him up for sleep failure when not at home in his comfy bed lol. I guess I always had a twin until I got married so I'm cool with that..

I would do a twin so there is more space in the room unless the bedroom is huge. DD may get a queen only because her big girl room is quite large and already has a queen bed in there (currently the guest room).
