I saved up to buy American Girl doll clothes in elementary school, and a very cheap desktop computer in 8th grade (lots of babysitting). Other than that, I usually spend the money I got within the month.

I remember saving up and buying an American Doll and a Talkboy. I was going to send a big wad of cash in the envelope with the order form to FAO Schwartz for the Talkboy. Luckily my dad stopped me and traded my cash for a check!

I saved all my babysitting money to buy a giant trampoline! (At the end of 8th grade). I can't believe my parents let me!

I lived to shop at the Hello Kitty store when I was little. I still have fuzzy feelings towards those Hello Kitty giant head erasers.

but then junior high came along, and it was so I could go to school dances.

A few CDs and a trip to Costa Rica in high school! I always preferred saving and watching my accounts grow.

For most of my childhood I had no idea what to do with my allowance. It was such a tiny amount of money. Finally when I was like 11 or 12 it got bumped up to $5 a week or so, and at that point I started putting a portion into savings, a portion toward donating to various causes I was interested in, and a portion toward junk that I wanted. Usually X-Files themed paraphernalia and posters for my room, and CDs from Columbia House. SO many CDs.

None.

I had no allowance and only money from birthdays. I saved every dollar. When I wanted something, I'd ask and the answer was usually yes.

I spent money on books, spare change on candy at the corner store. But the saving came in handy when I became a teen an ran away from home.

The few hundred dollars I used for food.
