I only started to browse but feel so confused already!
Seems like it's good to get the "system" with the car seat, base & stroller so it's easy to just pick up the car seat and snap it into the frame/base when getting out of a car.
But it seems like the systems aren't as portable as let's say a City Mini that you can fold up. What are the pros/cons of both? Why did you pick what you did?

No experience yet, but we are registered for both. My big gift from the hostesses of my shower is my travel system and I think we will get the city mini from my mother in law!
ETA: We didn't plan on buying the stroller that goes with our car seat + base, but it was a $50 difference and we figured the resale value would more than make-up for the $50.

We used a Britax B-Safe with our City Mini. Baby Jogger makes a $20 adapter just for the B-Safe which isn't bulky like its other adapters. I didn't see the need for another stroller. Love the City Mini!

Our little guy already had an infant seat, but no system to go with it. So, we bought a convertible snap and go. It worked well, and I have no complaints. It was very portable, and lightweight.

We have a travel system and a snap and go, in my daughters 7 months, I have never used the snap n go. The travel system is simple to use and much more functional for me so I just never felt the need to use the other I guess.... I LOVE my travel system though (britax b-agile and b-safe).

I have the chicco travel system and don't like it. Way too bulky. If I could do it over again, I would get a snap and go for the car seat and then a better stroller (something that isn't so bulky).

We did the City Mini with an adapter for our Chicco. No regrets because a snap and go or system would have been short-lived, but the ease of folding was nonexistent with the adapter.

IMO snap n go frames are kind of a waste of money because when your LO outgrows the infant seat you're going to have to get another stroller anyways. We have an UppaBaby Cruz stroller and Maxi Cosi Mico car seat. We purchased the stroller adapter so the Mico snaps into the Cruz frame. We also had the Cruz infant insert for when she was a newborn so she could sit in the fully-reclined Cruz seat for walks around the neighborhood. If you're going to get an infant seat then a system like this makes the most sense to me.

The combo I used the most was the basinett with the stroller frame. I used that day in day out for almost 8 months!
I was without a car during the week and the whole infant seat/base barely went used.

LO isn't born yet, but a travel system where the car seat can snap from the car in to the stroller and back again seems really convenient to me.

Oh, and I wanted to add, that as soon as you settle on something and buy it, there will be an even better model released and you'll get stroller envy all over again!

@looch: Hahahs yeah! I was reading someone's review on Amazon about the City Mini, and then at the end of it she was like uh, all the cons I listed w/ this was answered by the new City Mini GT...

I love my travel system we have two one for my car and one for DH we both keep the strollers in our trunks since they fold up pretty good it so much easier to just snap the car seat into the base or stroller and go

We have a Mountain Buggy but hired our capsule and a Snap'n Go for the early days. I'm not a fan of leaving a baby in a capsule for longer than necessary but it was very useful for running errands and quick trips.

Britax B-Ready with Britax B-Safe seat and base! The B-Ready comes with a toddler seat. It becomes a "travel system" because the car seat clicks into the stroller frame until LO is big enough for the toddler seat (usually after 6 months). The frame folds up so easily and so discreetly. Its a bit heavier than the City Mini like you mentioned, but I think its worth it because it is so much more versatile! Also, the stroller frame stands when it is folded! Ohh!! And, its so much more affordable than the UBV!

We used the Britax travel system, and it folds super easily. L still loves the stroller at 15 months, and flips out when she sees it. If I don't want to go on a walk I have to make dang sure that stroller is hidden *very* well

We got the city mini and love it and borrowed a snap and go. I love that the city mini is not bulky and I can fold it and lift it with one hand.

I have the b-agile/b-safe combo and it works great. I would get one that has a really good stand alone stroller. That's the one you'll use for years. Then get an adaptor to put the car seat on top. If you get a "travel system" that has a bad stroller, you'll be annoyed by the stroller-car seat combo (even the b-agile/b-safe combo was heavy and harder to control together) and then still be annoyed by the bad stroller when you ditch the car seat. Which means you'll probably end up buying another stroller.

I voted "Stroller" because I think its easiest to pick the stroller that meets your needs and then pick a car seat that snaps into that brand stroller (or with an adapter).
We did the B Ready which is really a combo (stroller plus car seat) but we didn't choose it as a travel system.

Chicco Snap n go and infant seat. Uppababy GLuxe after that. Double city mini for two kids.

I have the chicco travel system and like it fine, although I use the ergo a lot more than the stroller now. The Britax B Agile is very similar to the city mini, and comes as a travel system. I did not get it because my DH is 6'2", and the handles were too short and not adjustable. I wanted to just buy one stroller, and the chicco frame would have been almost as expensive, with such a short life span.

We also have the B Ready. LOVE. Acts as a snap and go, then transitions to a regular stroller, then transitions again to a double. Perfect for my urban family.

LOVE the B Safe/B Agile system. It was the easiest to collapse/expand/get the baby seat in and out when we tested in the store.

we have a city mini with the carseat adapter. we were given an infant seat for free, so that was what worked best for us (we did not have to consider which seat to buy, etc.).
I. LOVE. OUR. STROLLER. seriously..love affair.
we need to shop for a double and I'm leaning toward the b-agile because it's as close as I can get to the city mini and have it take a carseat.

we used a universal snap and go. then once we retired the infant seat, we used an umbrella stroller. now we have a city mini gt double!

I only wanted one stroller, so I got a bugaboo and I love it.
Also, not to wet blanket, but at my OB's office it is plastered everywhere that it is not recommended to keep baby in a carseat for any longer than absolutely necessary, so for me that made a car seat system out. I wanted a stroller with the bassinet.
