Water broke around 4:30 am with my first, and 7:30 pm with my second. Water breaking was the start of my labor both times.

7-8 pm I started having the menstrual type cramps. Things didn't turn into serious, painful contractions till about 7 am the next morning. Didn't have LO until 12:56 am that night so....I'm not really sure where to count from.

Mine was a hindsight is 20/20. My water broke around 1am (a trickle not a gush) and major contractions started after. Looking back though, I was probably in early labor most of the day before. I couldn't get comfortable, was having a lot of what I thought were BH contractions but we're probably the real thing. We were out most of the day running errands and ended the day at the in laws so I just chalked it up to doing too much at the time.

I'm not sure which to count, my water broke around 3 am, but I didn't start having contractions until about 9 pm the next night. Then again those are both night, I guess!
