not sure if this counts, but i was told not to wear moisturizer with sunscreen because it will bounce the light and make you look shiny

@mrs. bird: Ahh, yes...I always look like Casper in pics when I wear SPF sunscreen. I have to remember that tomorrow!

all i know from my makeup artist friend is matte is better than shimmer. also, pile on a lot more makeup than you think you need so that it actually shows up in the pictures! fake eyelashes also does wonders esp for our asian lashes!

Make sure your foundation (if you use any) doesn't have any SPF in it because it will make you look shiny. I would probably do lipstick -- you'll want everything to be a lot darker/more noticeable than what you'd wear just walking around because otherwise it won't be very visible in photos. One time I got my makeup done professionally for some photos and I was really nervous because I thought it was SOOOO dark and over the top. But they assured me it would be way less obvious in photos and they were right

Agree with the putting on more make up, I always remember I thought I looked crazy for the wedding but the pictures turned out SO nice!
I'm having my maternity photoshoot this weekend, and I bought some fake lashes too since that's what I had when I got married and they looked so good in pictures (a little scary in real life haha).

Go matte on face and eyes. The camera amplifies shimmer and will make you look like an oil slick. Not good.
Lots of mascara and use black, even if you normally wear brown. The black is a better contrast in photos and will make your eyes pop more.
Definitely wear blush. You'll look washed out without it.
Do some basic contour/highlight. Dust a slightly darker powder or bronzer around the edges of your face (hairline, under the cheekbones. It'll make the center of your face pop and take focus off your forehead.
Fill in your brows!
And yeah, I agree to go a little heavier than you normally would.

@MrsSCB: Oh yeah, I did my regular routine for some newborn pics and I look sooo washed out! I will pile it on!
@snowjewelz: I have some but I suck at putting them on!

1. color in eye brows, gives definition
2. steer clear of any shimmer bronzer
3. blush is a must
4. now spf (like others have said)
5. darker eyeliner looks better too, it helps define the eyes, just make sure it's not a thick line.

@autumnlove: NYX blush is awesome! You can get it at Target or Ulta. My friend is a makeup artist and swears by their stuff.

@autumnlove: I really need to try doing it today to make sure I can. I got these self adhesive ones! I figure they might be easier than glue? If I get around to practicing tonight I will PM you about it!

@autumnlove: If your Target carries NYX, you cant go wrong there! Their blushes are awesome and are only like in the $3-5 range. CVS and Ulta carry the brand too.

@MrsSCB: Ha, I just cked my tinted moisturizers and BB creams and they all have SPF. Boo!

@autumnlove: Yeah, it's tough, so many do now these days! I think my makeup artist for my wedding even used one with SPF because I look shiny in some of the pictures. Pretty annoying since I feel like a makeup artist should be aware of that

-Nothing glittery/overly sparkly (i wore shimmery eyeshadow when I had E and in my photo, my eyebrow bone is WEIRDLY bright/white)
-Nothing with SPF (it reflects/makes you look ghostly)
-Brow liner
-Fake eyelashes
-Bronzer/blush (i make the 3 shape on either side of my face)
-I prefer lip liner+lipstick over gloss. Too shiny.
Everything @loveisstrange: said!

Great tips so far. No shimmer. I like a colored gloss, like a pink or coral. I'm not a fan of true lipstick in photos, unless it's bright red, which is always a win.
Also skip smokey eyes as well as lower lash liner and keep it simple and classic.

Smoky eyes end up looking dark and dirty, I think. (At least on me!)
Definitely blush or you'll look washed out.

@Mrs. J: Same...smoky looks messy when I apply it! Prob user error for me!
