Like stay home from daycare/school sick, not just a common cold.
LO is on day 3 of being home from school with a really nasty stomach bug. I think this is the longest she's ever been sick outside of colds. She's been couch bound since Tuesday morning and isn't any better

B has been off for a week more than once. When he gets ear infections he tends to have no symptoms other than a fever that spikes to 104 in the afternoon, and it always takes us a few days to catch on and realize he needs antibiotics.

My son got the flu last year (yes, actual influenza, after being vaccinated) and was out for a week.

A week for HFM and 2.5 weeks recently for RSV and pneumonia (1 week in hospital) which was by FAR the worst he's ever been sick.

She had a 104 fever with HFM for 10 days and would not eat, then got a staff infection from one of the sores and had croup at the end. It was about 3 weeks total. I had bronchitis for a chunk of it and one week DH had a trip to NY he absolutely could not miss. A parenting low for sure. She went to the dr about 6 times and the ER once. On the way home from the dr and to the pharmacy I got a flat tire during this ordeal.
Now you know why I'm shooting for a 4 year age gap. I still want to cry when I think of it. Last July was the worst.

@Bao: my mom was a DCP for almost 20 years and said it was the sickest she had ever seen a child. She got bronchitis too helping. Luckily a family friend with 3 kids sent over her 15 year old to help that week- she's still our regular babysitter.

2+ weeks for HFMD (1 week of super high-fever + 1 week of open sores). It is THE WORST of the common kid viruses - I could tell she was in so much pain for such a long time.
Other than that, LO has had a fever for 5 days, which ended up being a double ear infection.

3 days with a fever followed by a trip to the Children's hospital because of a leukemia scare. He was just not himself.
LO also had a cold that straddled days when daycare was closed for the holidays. His persistent congestion and cough really sucked.

@Bao: I remember you mentioning recently that your daughter was having some serious ongoing issues with constipation. Are you sure this is a virus and not part of her ongoing GI issues? I would take her to a pediatric GI for advise at this point.

@Truth Bombs: she has a fever and it's going around, she was doing great with her constipation issues all last week. I'm 99% sure it's a stomach bug.
