Our baby is almost 8 months old and has just started sitting on her own. Yesterday after nap I went to get her out of her crib and she had her arms on top of railing, I said "looks like it's time to move you down!" I told my DH and he thinks we wait since she's shown no since of actually pulling herself up. When did you move down a notch on the crib? After they pull up or showing signs of doing so?

I was so paranoid about this so as soon as they showed signs I lowered it!

Around that age...we actually put her in her crib to play for a few minutes and when we came back she was nearly falling out, total parent fail. DH immediately moves it to its lowest setting

Around 8 months. He was starting to pull up, so we had to do it!

Just before five months. She was crawling and starting to pull up. Crazy monkey.

We dropped once he started showing signs of pulling up (6 mos). It took awhile to get used to bending down so low to put him in his crib, though!

I'd do it based on those signs.

DS pulled up at 6.5 mos, taking us totally by surprise. I lowered the crib immediately, not even waiting for DH to get home from work. Now, a month later, I may need to lower it another notch. Our boy is tall and has been getting onto his tippy toes when standing. He really has US on our toes!

We lowered ours when he started pulling up to stand on things. He hadn't done it in his crib yet, but it was only a matter of time!

As soon as she was up on her knees, I moved it down. Two days later, she was standing.

I honestly don't remember who old she was, lol. But it was after she started pulling herself. Use your best judgement.

As soon as he was sitting we lowered it all the way. He was pulling himself up within days after that. We went all the way down as opposed to one notch because I didn't want to deal with lowering it again.

@LuLu Mom: we moved it one notch down when she started sitting in her own and then all the way down once she started pulling up.

At five months when we moved her to her room for night sleep and nap trained. We didn't need to at that point but thought it was just easier to do it while we were thinking about it.
