I included my thank you notes with the newborn announcements. Even though that made them a little delayed, it seemed more practical than sending a than you note right away and then having to mail an announcement several weeks later.

I never sent any for the showers last year, because we lost R shortly after them. And L was born less than a week after my one this year, so I haven't gotten to it yet. She's 9 weeks old, so I'm going on 10 weeks. It's on my to-do list!

I had two showers that were two weeks apart. All thank yous for each shower were written and sent within a month of the shower.

For gifts sent to us outside of showers, I wrote thank yous as they came so they went out within a week.

I usually write them all they after a shower or event to get them out of the way! I think for wedding it was a couple extra weeks because I was waiting on the cards to arrive.

I did them right away, I knew I wasn't going to get any less busy. Plus I had two showers so I wanted the first ones done before the second shower.

Does your DH really want to be a part of the notes? It sounds nice, but I'm better off doing stuff like that on my own. He was excited about the wonderful gifts we received and did ask who gave us what but he's not a big note person. I just sent "we've moved" announcements and when I finally accepted his offer to sit together and work on them he wasn't very helpful.

They were written and sent within the week - I had to get them done so I wouldn't forget and be stuck doing them with a newborn.

It seems like a big job, but I find once you get started you get into a groove and they go by quickly. Dh didn't play any part in writing them so I was able to do them on my own time.

My family shower was cancelled because I had complications and my doctor wasn't comfortable letting me fly. Everyone sent gifts and thank you notes were always in the mail within a week of receiving the gift. For my in town shower with co-workers and friends they were all sent within two weeks of the shower. I was working full time and had continued complications, but was still able to sent timely thank you notes. My husband didn't write any of them if I remember correctly.

When I received gifts, I sent notes. I basically didn't have a shower, but people sent stuff with my mom. She visited when my son was 5 weeks old. I sent her home with the notes to mail locally.

That next day I wrote them all out. I'll admit I wasn't the best with the straggling gifts between the shower and birth.

I tried to get them done as quickly as possible because once the baby came there wasn't a lot of time for that kind of thing.

Even if you have them written and wait to mail them with an announcement, at least they are done. As much as I would love DH's help with that kind of thing, he's much better at stuffing the envelopes and putting stamps on them. If I waited for his help it would never get done.

Too many options, didn't vote. I sent them out as I wrote them, so starting after the shower I made myself write something like 4/day.

I def didn't get them all out till after the baby arrived. And there were no issues that causes it, really just laziness on my part.

I picked other because I sent mine, like, two days after the shower. Thank you cards are very important to me so I prioritized getting them done immediately, both because I personally find it annoying when I go weeks after something with no card and because I figured I might as well just get them off my plate. It didn't take that long, you kind of fall into a sort of template with some personalizations, and I just did them while I watched tv. My husband wasn't involved at all, but my husband is pretty useless on that front - I wrote all 100+ cards for our wedding myself as well.

Gah! Our baby shower was 4 weeks ago and they aren't done yet. Life seriously threw us some curveballs in there though. They are on my desk to get done TODAY!
