G is almost 8 mos old, and her birthday is July 4th. It's starting to feel REALLY close! I started pinning ideas for her bday back in like, November, but today I started my '1st Birthday Spreadsheet' (yes, I'm a spreadsheet person), and I think I'll start buying stuff soon to spread out the costs a bit.
When did you start planning and/or buying things for your LO's first bday? Any tips for me as I navigate the world of first bday parties?

A couple of months before I started a few DIY crafts and ordered invites. The month before I did a lil every week and the week prior I decorated every day leading up to the party day!

I started pinning in Nov/Dec, I think. But I didn't buy anything until Jan. Her party is in 2 weeks! But so far I have all my crafts done, so many stars to cut out. Making her trial smash cake this weekend, so then I will make her cake topper. Putting together favor bags one night the week of. And do as much decorating as we can (balloons will done that day). DH and I took off Friday so we are going to do all the shopping while she is at day care. Then Friday night, prep food and finish up decorating. Sat, ice her cake, pick up the cake for everyone else, finish up all the food.

I was at Wal-Mart the other day and in their clearance bin of $0.97 items was a ton of jungle themed 1st birthday things like banners, napkins, cups, cake plates, etc. So I bought it all, and that's how DS's 1st birthday theme came to be. hahahaha! No idea when I'll reconvene on planning. He's 7 months now, but I don't want to think he'll be 1 soon enough. My baby......

Right after the holidays! So when she was 9 months? It was just all pinning fun and cute stuff though
