We have a prepaid photo session that we can schedule anytime. F is 2 weeks old now so we missed the newborn window but I'm not a huge fan of all sleeping pics anyways. Now I'm trying to figure out if it would be better to take pics now, 1 month, or 2 months? Any suggestions from those with first pics taken at those timeframes?
Also if anyone is willing to share pics taken later than first week, I can make this post gold!

@Mae: same. I feel like they start to develop personalities a little later. But do it before she is mobile!

We had a friend take LO 1's pics at one month and she was asleep in every pic! I would wait until 2 months if you want LO to be more alert.

I think it depends on the kid. We had our newborn pictures at the hospital about 1 day old. Half of them his eyes were wide open and we were glad we have them. Though a few nurses and doctors did comment how alert for a newborn our LO was.
So I think you have go just gauge how alert your kid is and what would be right for you.
Honestly I wasn't planning newborn pictures... I was going to go straight to 3 month old shots but a lady came in with a camera when we were at the hospital and we thought why not?

With my last we did newborns, and he is sleeping in all of them. For my other two, we got pictures taken at three months and it was really nice. We got some smiles and a lot of eye contact.

We weren't able to get DS's until 4 weeks - no sleeping pics but they turned out super cute!! He was still nice and tiny at that age too!

We just did them last week (when she was a week old) but surprising N didn't sleep at all!! With my second we did them at 3 months. She was still so tiny but by that time, her baby acne cleared up (it was bad between 5-8 weeks).

We did ours around 2-3 weeks. She was awake for some and asleep for some. I'm glad we did them when she was that tiny!

If it were me, I would do them soon cause they change so quickly! Then maybe do a 3 month mini shoot?

We did 4 month pictures for both - I like that their personality came through. I took a lot of newborn sleeping pics myself.

We did ours at 3.5 weeks and our LO slept through almost all of them. So I agree with PPs--take them much later if you want eyes open?

we did ours at exactly 2 weeks. I was in the hospital for a little over a week and the photographer was not available to it worked out for us. Our newborn photo is my profile picture (i know its small)
PS DD was awake for a good hour and we got some awesome awake pictures of her

Another option is to wait until about 7 months. I skipped out on newborn pics as they were too expensive, but my photographer suggested 7 months because they can sit, smile and not crawl away. Made for a great photo session And looking back at the pics now that he is older, I can see he still has all his baby chub.
