We were always told that if we swore we would get our mouths washed out with soap (and we really would have!), so I was always so good about not swearing. I think the first time I swore, I was in the 1st or 2nd grade, and my sister was doing something to me, and I called her an asshole! My mom was standing there, and I think we were all so surprised that I said it, that she didn't wash my mouth out! She told me to never say it again though, and I didn't, for a LONG time!

I said my first curse word when I was 15 and in high school. I never heard my parents cuss and didn't know there were "bad words" for a long time.

I'm not sure why I have such a clear memory of my sister teaching me curse words on Halloween when I was 5. Even though I was born in the States, I was just starting to learn English and had a very limited vocabulary. I blurted out a curse word (can't remember which) while waiting in line for the water fountain. My Kindergarten teacher was mad at me, and I got in a lot of trouble. Of course I had no idea what I did wrong. I was just using some of my "new" vocabulary. Oye.

I think it was 3rd grade or so and it was at school. I can't remember what I said but everyone was surprised since I had never said a bad word before. I guess that means everyone else was already swearing. That seems so young to me now.

I didn't swear until middle school. My mom yelled at me and that was that.

Now I only swear if I'm very, very angry. Swearing makes me uncomfortable.

I remember saying the F-word at about seven. I had heard it from my uncle, I thought it was the same thing as darn. Haha...
My Mom and Grandma jumped out of their chairs in horror asking me where I had heard that, and I got worried about my Uncle getting in trouble so I told them I had made it up. lol
They didn't believe me, so I told them I'd heard it from my Dad because I was currently upset at him.
Wow...memories.

I remember calling my stepfather a bastard. I had no idea what it meant, but I knew it sounded cool. Needless to say, I learned!

I was taught very early not to say certain swear words so I avoided those words

I don't remember when I started using swear words but I was really good about not using them around my parents until one day in the 8th grade I was getting ready for school and my mom and I had a moment, she hit me and busted my lip. I called her a bitch and I left.

I don't know where I learned it, I think one of my "older" friends. Anyway, I was in grade 6 and I was playing on the playground by myself and I missed a step on the ladder on the playground, and said "Oh fuck". I couldn't even believe I said it, and the rest of the day I spent worrying that I'd be called to the principles office because they just KNEW I'd said a bad word. hahaha... Obviously no one heard me and therefore no one knew I'd said it, but I was sweating it! Didn't say another swear word until I was about 14. Now I swear like a sailor.

I don’t remember any real swearing when I was little, but I know when I was 2 I was in my highchair eating dinner and was watching a muppet movie. The muppets knocked down some buildings, and I stood up and exclaimed “Jesus Christ! That muppet just knocked over a building!!!”

Its not really a swear per se, but not something you expect out of a 2 year old either. My dad had to watch his language after that!

The f-word was scratched out of the paint on the monkey bars at the playground and I must have been an amazing reader when I was 5 because I was swinging away while sounding it out and gasped when I realized that I had just read and said out loud the f-word. On the way home I whispered to my brother, "I know how to spell f-ck!" He threatened to tell my mom that I swore and I cried all the way home.

I'm sure it was elementary school.... my brother and I used to slip up with swear words in front of one another and used it as bait to make each other "servants" in exchange for not tattling! Needless to say, he swore more than me and I took full advantage of making him do my chores!
