Sometimes he falls asleep on the couch if he stays up later than I do and it makes me CRAZY! I don't want to go downstairs and wake him up, but I don't sleep very well without him

Never on the couch, but he sleeps alone in the guest room weekly. He has a really long day on Tuesday and lectures for about 5 hours straight. He needs a good night's sleep, so into the guest room he goes!

Whenever one of us is sick, that person hits the guest room too.

We never sleep apart unless one of us is out of town.

Last night. Sometimes he does it if he has to get up really early. I snore and sometimes keep him up. Meh. Our relationship is better when both if us sleep so... yeah

@yoursilverlining: Same here. My husband lectures 6 hours on a Monday so Sunday nights he always sleeps in the guest room. Even now that my son doesn't really wake up in the night anymore, he's grown accustomed to it and sleeps better there alone! Plus he doesn't start work until 10am, so while I feed my son and get him ready, my husband can have a sleep in before his big and late day.

We sleep apart all the time. My husband works the through the night and gets up really early. He sleeps in the family room most often, but he's crashed in the living room and the guest room. Sometimes I'd rather sleep in the guest room so he doesn't disturb me with his early shower & shaving.

Our couch gets so much use, I'm already eyeing a replacement for it.

For me the question would be when was the last time your DH slept with you? We only have a double for a bed. DH works midnight's so I got used to sleeping alone. At about 8 month pregnant we both just couldn't sleep comfortable together on the weekends so he took to the couch. After Lo was born she co-slept with me till she was 6 months. He still sleeps on the couch to this day when he's home.

He slept in our guest room last night (because he is sick and on the night before he kept me up all night snoring due to congestion so I asked him to). I slept in the guest room Monday night (because I'm sick and I really needed a night off mom-duty, LO still sleeps in our room and DH watched her so I could rest up). And he slept on the couch 2 weeks ago because we were both sick (AGAIN. Yes. we are sick for the second time in 3 weeks) and he had a horrible cough and I was worried he would wake LO and my mom was staying with us to help take care of LO while I was sick and was in the guest room.

We had sleeping apart, but when we're sick it's just necessary sometimes for us all to get good rest.

@MamaPhoenix: i have a similar situation. Dh works late in the living room almost every night and often ends up just sleeping there. If I want him in bed with me, I have to go get him.

When I have pregnancy insomnia I go to the guest bedroom to sleep. So probably last week I did that.

Dh slept in the guest room last winter when he was suuuuper sick with strep (and contagious)

All the time when I go to bed before him and he falls asleep watching tv. He works nights every three weeks so I'm used to sleeping without him.

I don't think he ever has! I did a few months ago when my cough was so bad that I couldn't even stay on the same floor as him (otherwise I would have slept in the guest bed)... It was obnoxious. I slept on the couch downstairs for a few nights, even though he really didn't want me to bother.

Erm every time he has the good idea of putting Rocky on after a night out! He never makes it past the opening credits and I can't be bothered waking him up to come to bed anymore haha

I sleep in the guest room a lot because my husband has all kinds of sleep issues. He talks/yells in his sleep, wakes up and wants to watch tv until he can go back to sleep, etc. I'm a light sleeper and need quiet/darkness, so I go to the other room. It sucks but it is what it is. I try to at least sleep with him on the weekend.

Sooooo not the norm here I guess... my DH falls asleep on the couch almost EVERY night. I go to bed early, before he does and he is TERRIBLE and coming to bed when he is tired. Even if he's falling asleep before I go to bed I'll say ok let's go to bed and he'll say, no I'm still watching tv... Yeah right buddy, you were just cutting logs over there and your eyes are clearly closed! I've even asked him what just happened then? if you're watching tv what just happened....

Anyway, apparently he's always been this way. His mom always talks about how stubborn he was about going to bed. Not falling asleep, just going to bed. I find it so odd b/c as soon as I'm tired I head to my nice comfy bed! But not him.

So he usually falls asleep on the couch and then will come upstairs at some random time during the night, but not every night. Some nights he ends up sleeping on the couch until DD and I wake up

Never, couches are not for sleeping! We have a guest room, though, and we're fine sleeping apart when needed.

Never? I wouldn't want either of us to sleep on the couch. If anything, I think I'd let him have the king bed and I'd sleep in our guestroom in my old twin bed since I'm small; I can't imagine DH trying to sleep in the twin bed!

I think last month when his sleep was messed up after working a week of overnight shifts.
