We've only stayed in a hotel once with our 7 mo. We had one room, and I brought her travel crib with us, but we ended up co-sleeping.

We've done everything you can possibly imagine and it doesn't matter, because he ends up in bed with us!

We travel a lot and if it's a teeny NYC hotel room, I'd co-bed. DS sleeps like crap when he's anywhere but home, so he'd probably be falling asleep when we go to bed but at least I wouldn't have to worry about him crying in his pack n play.

Ours sleeps with us but my sister has put pack and plays in closets and bathrooms for her kids to sleep.

We've gotten suites for hotel rooms (I search Priceline or other travel sites for deals because suites are expensive!). I can only imagine how much a suite costs in Manhattan!

Lately, we've been renting a house/apt on AirBnB.com so we have a full living space and some cooking space, too. Most of the places we've gotten on AirBnB are cheaper than a hotel suite in the same city!

They sleep with us. When we only had one LO I would try to get a king bed and LO slept in the middle. Now with two we get two double beds and each of us gets a kiddo.

@HabesBabe: yeah, we've pretty much given up on hotel rooms. She sleeps lightly and wakes a lot if we're in the room with her, and she wakes me up. We liked airbnb before but now we're total converts--you can get REALLY nice places for much less than hotel rooms, and it's nice to be able to not have every meal in a restaurant with a baby.

(The only time a hotel room even remotely worked for us was when we had a deck to sit on after she went to bed.)

@Bookish: good luck! LO HATES sharing a bed with us (which blows, especially when she wakes up at 5am sometimes... "come and snuggle with us, baby." cue shrieks and cries and wiggles) so we've always had to get a secondary space. I think @Mrs. Wagon and Wagon Sr. have gotten normal rooms before, but will bring their laptop into the bathroom to stream a movie or something. Like @Beehive:'s LO, C will not stay asleep if we watch TV or if we're in the room with her-- she'll perk up and want to play

@mjane: AirBnB has been a lifesaver for us! And like you said, it helps cut down the food costs, too. It's even nice to have a microwave or something just to heat up food or a bottle of milk.

We get a room with two double/queen beds so that DS gets his own bed. We're fortunate that noise doesn't bother him so we can watch TV, talk, flush the toilet, shower, etc. without waking him.

@Bookish: Usually their deals are for stays that are in the pretty near future, so you'll be able to get better May deals in a month or two (I think most of their deals now are good through March).

but when we stay in a hotel, we turn on loud white noise. seriously we have three different sources. we've slept in the same hotel room with two kids with two different bedtimes many times before and have never had a problem.

When they were younger, they slept in travel cribs. We'd hide in the bathroom until they fall asleep and the come back out. We won't be able to lounge around or anything. We just end up both browsing our phones and whatnot. Now that they're older. They sleep in bed with us. The sucky part is that we have to sleep in separate beds, one with each kid, because they'll keep each other up otherwise.
