DH was supposed to be packing up DD's things this morning while I was getting ready.
Me: what did you pack for snacks?
DH: silence.
Me: did you pack snacks?
DH: Silence
Me: Did you pack her silverware?
DH: Uh....no.

@FaithFertility: mine does the same. He's constantly sneaking more things into her daycare lunch bag. He sometimes went hungry as a kid, so he always wants to be sure she has enough.

I feel you. DH never wants to pack snacks or even let me pack snacks. Then he gets hungry and the kids get hangry and we all melt down. It's so dumb that I have to covertly pack snacks.

@StrawberryBee: that's very sweet of your DH even if it's for a sad reason
My DH also over packs- he put two granola bars, goldfish, and a mini cucumber in the bag for a run to Target today!

Wellllll my husband forgot my son's entire suitcase for our last trip sooooooo.......
Lucky it was just a weekend trip, and we had the diaper bag and food! We needed to buy one oufit, swim diapers, normal diapers, wipes, a sleep sack, and a blanket. I think that was it...

I can't even let DH pack anything for LO (or anyone else). He can barely pack for himself. He is a brilliant man, one of the smartest people I've ever met. But his common sense and awareness for Day to day stuff is mind bogglingly bad.

We don't have to pack food for daycare, as everything is provided. DH does well on packing snacks if we have an outing if I remind him, but it's usually me that handles that. However, he is terrible for packing and double checking his bag. We are half way through potty training and he never remembers to put in extra pants or the correct number of cloth pull-ups. We went to get family photos taken on Friday with our newborn and DS1 had an accident because he was so excited to play with our photographer's sons' toys. DH had "checked" the bag that morning, so there was one pull-up but no pants. Luckily our photographer had some old pants from one of her sons to loan us.

If my husband actually had to do it, I think he's be okay...this of course assumes that he would be caught in a place without something and he'd never forget again!
My husband has really poor attention to detail in our home life, which is really surprising, because it is on his attention to detail that he built his career.

@FaithFertility: lol
@strawberrybee: Aww
@caterw: Dang! Sounds like you could enjoy some of the extras!
@desertdreams88: This would totally happen if we ever flew anywhere with DD, I just know it!
@littlebit7: Yes! I feel like DH spends the same amount of time with DD that I do. He knows her routine! He knows she needs snacks. Yet, packing really stumps him
@astro bee: Oh no!! Thank goodness the photographer had an extra!
@looch: It's so interesting how attention to detail can vary depending on the task!

If I ever ask DH to pack for DD, I can bet it'll be in a crumpled plastic bag. He'll make a few whole sandwiches wrapped in the bag that the bread came in with some washed grapes in another bag still very wet. No napkins. Maybe a drink.
Extra clothes will always be whatever the first thing he sees. Pure luck if it's matching. 3 pairs of underwear and 3 pairs of socks.

He does just fine. He takes her out without me often. The only time he has ever asked for my help is the first time he did school drop off alone and that's because his work day starts a couple hours earlier than mine so he had never been home when I packed her school bag.

DH packs DD's lunch everyday so he's good with that!
But he can def never pack the diaper bags or just a bag for a whole day out!

My DH usually gets our LO dressed in the morning and the other day didn't put shoes on her before putting her in the car and forgot to get shoes or tell me to bring them out. Thankfully I had a pair of shoes in the car that I had planned to return so she wore those!
However, that having happened once it will never, ever happen again and he will forever be anal about making sure she has her shoes.

My husband is usually terrible about this too but he's just starting to get better-and she's 2.5. Basically, he got sick of having a hangry toddler and/or having to buy $15 worth of food for a kid because he failed to plan ahead!
My favorite is when we are all trying to go somewhere together and he stands by the door on his phone, ready to go whole u scramble around getting me and the toddler ready...
