I have PCOS and only had one normal cycle after stopping BC. I have seriously stubborn ovaries, it took several different medications to find something that worked for me.

@TurtleDoves: I did use metformin and it didn't seem to do anything to help ovulation. I thought it wasn't doing anything until I had to start monitoring my blood sugar once I got pregnant. I eventually got pregnant on 7mg Femara (the highest dose) + a few doses of 75iu Gonal-F (injectable). That was the only cycle where I ovulated right away - the other ones we tried lower doses of meds and then when it didn't work upped the dose. Those cycles I was ovulating more on like CD 30+.

But again, I have *really* stubborn ovaries. Most people seem to have more success than I did with lower doses of both Clomid and Femara.

Have you tried taking OPKs at all? I think annovulary cycles are usually much longer than yours, so I would guess you are O'ing, just not very consistently. Also, is how long does your mid cycle bleeding last? Definitely sounds fishy and worth talking to your doctor about...

That's exactly what my issue was. OPK's that were "almost" positive.

@TurtleDoves: EWCM generally means your estrogen is high, so having it all throughout your cycle (and during bleeding) could mean your hormones are off...? Also, if you're getting almost positive OPKs it sounds like there's something going on with your LH. It sounds like b/w and an u/s would be helpful today, but the best way to figure it out might be to monitor a cycle from day 2 or 3 as a baseline.

@TurtleDoves: Don't be scared of Clomid! Are you scared of the side effects? I had barely any, but if that's what worries you, ask about trying Femara instead.

@TurtleDoves: Hey I am living proof that you can have ovulation problems and still conceive without IUI or IVF. All we did was timed intercourse and got PG twice. And we believe the first time didn't stick because it took so long to get a viable egg. We did Clomid, then Femara, then finally Femara + Gonal-F.

The key is not giving up so that you can find a medication that works for you, if it doesn't work right away. It was definitely grueling at the time to try a dose for days, get monitored, need another dose, more monitoring, etc until either I ovulated or the cycle just crapped out (which happened my 2nd time on Clomid. First one we had a CP.)

I didn't really want IUI or IVF either. I wasn't morally opposed to it, but DH was so grossed out by the room when he went for a sperm analysis that I didn't that *that* to be how he experienced conceiving our child. And you guys have shown that you can conceive, so I get once you get a good strong ovulation, you'll be successful :).

Hoping for good news for you today! It sounds like blood work and an ultrasound are probably not bad things to ask for. Hoping your body can get back on track relatively easily.

Also, I didn't realize you had a m/c...I'm sorry to hear that. Fingers crossed for your sticky baby #2 very soon!!!

I'm 10 months pp and,breastfeeding but I also have PCOS so either one of those things - or both - could be why for me. To ovulate and get preg with A, acupuncture and herbs were fabulous. I'm starting acupuncture again soon and hoping it will help.

I didn't ovulate for a long time because of super high prolactin due to a pituitary tumor. This is the first cycle that my prolactin is in a good range. It is controlled by meds. Hope your appt went well today!

I stopped ovulating after a mc (got pregnant first cycle trying off bc). I had a D&C May 10, 2012 and my cycles were so inconsistent. They'd be 40 days, then 20, then 60, then 30. My doctor ran blood work and my LH/FSH ratio was off. That indicated that I have PCOS. I met with an RE who implied that I had "mild" PCOS because I was not insulin resistant and my cycles weren't 90+. 50mg of Clomid worked for me but I was bloated and had cramps. The RE switched me to Femara which I liked so much more on my 3rd cycle and thats when we got pregnant (January 2013). I wonder if it was the Femara alone that worked or the combination of Clomid and then Femara or just good luck that cycle.

ETA: OPKs and CBFM always gave me an almost positive but never a true positive. My RE's thought was that my body would gear up to O, try, fail, and try again.
